Rim is a 41-year-old barge driver from Cambodia. He lives with his wife and 13-year-old son. Rim works on a large barge that transports sand and rock on the Mekong River for the construction of new buildings, while his wife is a homemaker. Eight months ago, Rim was riding his motorbike home when he collided with another motorbike, causing a fracture of his left femur. His family took him to a local hospital, where he had a metal nail implanted to stabilize the bone and aid in the healing of the fracture. However, his femur has healed in an abnormal position also called a malunion. Now, it is difficult for Rim to walk, he cannot work, and he is in chronic pain. Fortunately, our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. On August 1st, Rim will undergo a fracture repair procedure at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre. This procedure will correct the alignment of the fractured bone, and improve the function of his leg, so that he can walk without difficulty, and return to work. Rim has contributed $100 to pay for his surgery and CSC is requesting the remaining $483 to cover the remaining costs. Rim said: "After surgery, I hope that my leg will heal, I will not have pain, and can go back to work to support my family."

Evalyne is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. She faced numerous challenges during this pregnancy, enduring physical and financial strain to obtain necessary medical care. She attended her antenatal appointments at Rwamahwa Health Center IV receiving comprehensive care. Fortunately, the pregnancy has come to term in good health. Evalyne had to drop out of school after completing primary six due to a lack of funds. She decided to get married, and she and her husband engage in small-scale farming to make a living. However, they face limitations due to insufficient land for extensive and modern farming practices. Their harvests are modest, primarily catering to their family's food needs. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. She is currently expecting her third child. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section so they can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Evalyne undergo a C-Section on October 5th. This procedure will cost $252, and Evalyne needs your support. Evalyne says, “I hope to be privileged to get my surgery supported by the donors and deliver my baby alive and healthy and this will enable me to resume farming and take care of my children.”

Run is a 57 year-old grandmother who lives in Battambang with her youngest daughter. Her other children live nearby, and Run helps look after her grandchildren. She enjoys cooking, watching Cambodian soap operas, and playing with her grandkids. Two years ago, Run had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the eardrum, in her left ear to perforate. For this reason, Run experiences pain, ear discharge, and hearing loss. She cannot communicate clearly with others and is worried when looking after her grandchildren. Run traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On September 7th, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her left ear, during which surgeons will close the perforation. Run is able to contribute $100 towards the cost of the procedure and she and our medical partner Children's Surgical Centre (CSC) need help raising $487 to fully fund the surgery, which will cover medications, supplies, and inpatient care. Run shared, "I want to improve my hearing so that I can take care of my family, and I want my family not to worry about me."
