Korn is a loving grandfather from Cambodia. He and his wife are retired rice farmers and live in Kampong Thom province with their youngest son. Their youngest son was the first in the family to receive a decent education, and is able to help support his parents and extended family by working in customer relations at a local bank. They have four other children living nearby, and twenty grandchildren. In his free time, Korn likes praying and volunteering at the pagoda in his village. Around two years ago, Korn developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on his own. When Korn learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On November 1, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $253 procedure. He shared, "I hope after surgery I can see better as I am eating, start to read again, and take good care of my grandchildren."

Justine, who is 37 years old, is a married man with three children in primary school. He is a laborer, who works with his wife on peoples’ farms to earn a living and to provide for their children. For over 20 years, Justine has been living with a large tumor located on his left cheek. While it started out small, it has continued to increase in size over the years. While he remains relatively symptom free, Justine is uncomfortable when he is out in public. Justine finally visited a facility for treatment, where a fine needle aspiration was performed, to determine whether or not the growth was malignant. The results indicated that the mass was benign, and doctors scheduled a procedure to excise it. However, as Justine didn't have sufficient funds to cover the costs of his treatment, he turned to herbal medicine for help. This has only worsened the tumor. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is seeking $1,196 to pay for Justine's mass excision, which is scheduled to take place on October 12th, at AIC Kapsowar Hospital. Once the tumor has been removed, Justine's self esteem will be restored, and he will be able to lead a more comfortable life. Justine says: “I have been uncomfortable and without confidence for over twenty years. Please help me so that I may have a normal face and be able to carry out tasks that will help me provide for my family.”

Seng Heap is a 43-year-old primary school teacher from the Banteay Mean Chey province of Cambodia. Seng Heap lives with her husband who is also a teacher and they have one son who is currently in the sixth grade. When Seng Heap was seven, she had an ear infection. The infection caused a cholesteatoma, or abnormal skin growth, to develop in the middle ear behind the ear drum. Seng Heap experiences hearing loss, tinnitus, and frequent ear discharge in her right ear due to this cholesteatoma. Although Seng Heap visits a pharmacy for medicine when she experiences pain, she continues to get recurrent infections. Now, her symptoms cause Seng Heap to have difficulty sleeping, working, and communicating. She said that she finds it difficult to hear what other people are saying to her and is ashamed that she cannot communicate. Fortunately, our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. On June 6th, Seng Heap with undergo a mastoidectomy procedure to help regain her hearing. During this procedure, ENT surgeons will remove the cholesteatoma that is causing her symptoms. CSC is requesting $926 to fund this procedure. This sum covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care. Seng Heap said, "I hope I will stop ear infections and improve my hearing after this operation"
