Jaiden is a one-month-old baby boy from Tanzania. He is the first child in his family, and his parents shared their deep love and care for Jaiden and his health. Jaiden's mother sells African fabric, commonly known as "vitenge," and his father works as a policeman. Jaiden was born with clubfoot of both feet. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape, which causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Jaiden's father has government health insurance and has been trying to get Jaiden enrolled, too. However, they were disappointed to learn that this condition is not covered by insurance and are requesting financial assistance. On July 25th, Jaiden will undergo clubfoot repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is requesting $935 to fund Jaiden's clubfoot repair. After treatment, he will be able to walk easily as he continues to grow! Jaiden's father says: "I really want my baby to have his feet treated, but I cannot afford it, and the insurance doesn't cover the cost."

Meet Bunnat, a hardworking rice farm laborer, aged 62, who is married and has one daughter, two sons, and two beloved grandchildren. Together with his wife, they work as day laborers on a rice farm in northern Cambodia. The work is arduous, but they persevere, hoping to retire someday. However, they must continue working until their children can fully support them financially. During his evenings, Bunnat finds solace in listening to the news on the radio. Around eight months ago, Bunnat started experiencing problems with his left eye due to a cataract. The cataract has caused sensitivity to light, tearing, and blurry vision, making it challenging for him to carry out his work in the rice paddies. He feels frustrated that he can no longer work as efficiently as before and struggles to see things clearly, including colors and faces. Fearful of potential accidents, he has refrained from going places alone. Upon learning about the Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), our medical partner, Bunnat decided to travel for four and a half hours to seek treatment. On August 2nd, skilled doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and implant an intraocular lens in his left eye. This procedure, costing $253, holds the promise of restoring his vision and enabling him to return to work, venture outside independently, and earn a living once more. CSC is requesting $253 to help fund this procedure. Bunnat said, "I hope after surgery I can see better and I can go back to work again, go outside, and earn money for my living."

Lav is an elderly widow, who lives with her youngest son in Kampong Cham province, Cambodia. Her other five children live nearby, and work in factories and rice paddies. Lav's favorite activities are spending time with her six grandchildren, and going to the pagoda in her village to pray and volunteer. Five years ago Lav developed a cataract in her left eye, which causes her to experience itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. Because her vision is impaired, she is reluctant to go out and about on her own. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $253 to fund cataract surgery for Lav. On July 3rd, doctors at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform small incision cataract surgery, and implant an intraocular lens in her left eye. After she has recovered, Lav will be able to see clearly again. Lav said: "I hope that I can enjoy my life and walk places on my own."
