Mitchelle is the only child in her family and always loves being in the company of her mother. Mitchelle met Cure International at their Satellite clinic in Makindu, Kenya, accompanied by her mother, Evelyn, who is a housewife while her father works as a labourer in a company based in Nairobi. Mitchelle was born healthy, however at the age of 2 years, her mother noticed her knees bending towards each other, a condition they refer to as knock knees. She took Mitchelle to a nearby hospital where plaster casts were applied for 2 weeks to check whether the condition would correct, but the condition did not improve and instead deteriorated. Mitchelle is now scheduled to undergo orthopedic surgery to correct her leg deformity. The treatment will impact her because she will be able to walk well and continue her education like other children. Our medical partner African Mission Healthcare is requesting $1,224 to fund orthopedic surgery and care for Mitchelle so that she can grow up active and healthy. Mitchelle's mother said, "My hope and joy would be to see Mitchelle walking well, just like other children, and without any discomfort.”

Champa is a 31-year-old stay-at-home mom. She lives in Bantey Mean Chey province with her parents and daughter, who just turned five. Her husband works in construction in Thailand, and her parents are rice farmers. In the off-season, they supplement their income by selling fish in the local market. Champa enjoys spending time with her family and growing vegetables and herbs at their house. Around the age of 9, Champa had an ear infection. This infection caused her right ear's tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, to perforate. For this reason, Champa still experiences pain, ear discharge, tinnitus, and hearing loss. She cannot communicate clearly with others, and her hearing is progressively getting worse. Champa traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. She will undergo surgery in her right ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Center, requests $487 to fund this procedure. This will cover medication, supplies, and inpatient care. She said, "I hope to improve my hearing so I can communicate clearly with my family and get a job outside the house."

Brightking is a four year old schoolboy, who lives with his grandmother. His mother, who is a single parent, works as a housekeeper, while his grandmother sells sweaters. For the past two years, Brightking has been having recurrent swelling of his tonsils and adenoids. As a result, he has difficulty eating and sleeping, and has had to miss school quite often, due to frequent high fevers. The family has sought treatment from different health facilities, but the problems keep returning. His mother is employed by a visiting pediatrician, who also tried to treat Brightking, without much success. Now Brightking's family has turned to our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare. It has been determined that Brightking needs to have his tonsils and his adenoids surgically removed. On July 28th, he will undergo a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy at Nazareth Hospital, and the family needs your help to fund this $565 procedure. Brightking's condition may worsen if he isn't treated, with complications like chronic ear infections, sinusitis, peritonsillar abscess or Rheumatic fever. “I have moved up and down to different hospitals with our child; I just wish he could get help and be treated. I can only imagine him having a completely quiet and restful sleep. Kindly support us so that he can return to his normal life,” said Brightking’s grandmother.
