Samnang is a 41-year-old bladesmith from Cambodia. He lives in Phnom Penh with his wife and three of his four children. His oldest son is a monk, and the younger three are students. Samnang makes knives to sell in the market, and his wife stays at home to care for the house and their younger children. In his free time, Samnang likes to watch videos to improve his work skills.
In January 2021, Samnang was in a motorbike accident that caused a fracture in his right clavicle. He visited an emergency clinic, where doctors fixated hardware to heal the fracture. Currently, Samnang experiences pain in his shoulder and frequent numbness in his arm and hand. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. On May 10th, Samnang will undergo a hardware removal procedure to relieve his pain and improve functioning in his shoulder. CSC is requesting $304 to fund this procedure. Samnang contributed $100 to his care.
He said, “I hope to go back to work as soon as possible without discomfort.”
