Jackline is a 30-year-old devoted mother from Uganda. She completed her education through high school and now works as a small-scale farmer. Her husband works as a teacher in a private school, and to supplement their income, they sell some of their farm produce. Jackline has two children who she loves dearly. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family Jackline is currently expecting her third child. Her doctors have recommended that she deliver via a Caesarean section due to scars from her previous deliveries. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is helping Jackline undergo a C-section on August 1st, at Karoli Lwanga Hospital, Nyakibale. This procedure will cost $252, and is the best way for the doctors to ensure the safety of both Jackline and the baby. Now Jackline and her family need your help to raise the money to fund this procedure. Jackline says: “I have always faced challenges to be discharged in all my past surgical deliveries. I came in to ask for support this time to ensure the success of my delivery.”

Marie is a mother of two from Haiti. She lives with her mother and two sons in a neighborhood of Port-au-Prince; she previously worked in an apparel factory but had to stop working last year due to her cardiac illness. Marie has a cardiac condition called rheumatic mitral stenosis. One of the four valves of her heart was damaged due to an infection she suffered earlier in life, and she can no longer pump blood normally through her body. Marie needs surgery that is not available within Haiti so she will fly to the United States to receive treatment. On October 19th, she will finally undergo cardiac surgery, during which surgeons will attempt to repair her existing damaged valve; if this is unsuccessful, they may need to implant an artificial replacement. Another organization, Baylor Scott and White Heart Hospital, is contributing $25000 to pay for surgery. Marie's family also needs help to fund the costs of surgery prep and followup. The $1,500 bill covers labs, medicines, and checkup and followup appointments. "I am hopeful that after this surgery, I can stop worrying so much about my health and my heart. I want to focus instead on my beautiful family and my future," Marie shared.

George is a small-scale farmer who works alongside his wife, and they primarily cultivate potatoes. He completed his education through sixth grade before discontinuing his studies. George's eldest child is 52 years old, while the youngest is 23 years old. Most of his children are married and have familial responsibilities. For around nine months, George has had a right inguinal hernia. It started as a small painless swelling in his inguinal region. Initially, he believed it would resolve on its own over time, given the absence of pain. Consequently, he didn't seek medical attention at the time. However, he recently began experiencing elevated temperatures around the inguinal area, particularly when standing for extended periods. Concerned, he shared his symptoms with a friend, who advised him to seek medical attention. George reports that he can work as usual and his productivity has not been significantly affected. However, he fears that if left untreated, his condition may hinder his ability to work effectively in the future. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), can help. On July 12, George will undergo hernia repair surgery at our AMH's care center. AMH is requesting $170 to fund George's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. George says, “I hope for a successful surgery. I will continue with farming so that I may be able to take good care of myself and my family.”
