Asiyas is a 63-year-old grandmother with one daughter, whom she currently lives with, and four grandchildren.
Three years ago, Asiyas developed a cataract in her left eye, causing blurry vision and photophobia. As a result, she has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Asiyas learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled for one and half hours to seek treatment. On September 9th, doctors will perform cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly again. CSC is requesting $229 to fund this procedure.
Asiyas shared, “I hope I can see clearly again so I can see my grandchildren’s faces and help my daughter with cooking. I would also like to visit the mosque myself.”

Asiyas underwent sight-restoring surgery.
Asiyas had a successful procedure to remove the cataract on her eye. It was important for her to do this so that her vision did not further deteriorate. She will rest for a few days and apply eye drops to decrease the risk of infection and aid in healing. Asiyas’ eyesight will continue to improve and she’ll soon be able to travel by herself and visit family.
Asisyas said: “Thank you. I am so grateful to see again and visit my family and my temple.”
