Lim is a 61-year-old rice farmer from Kampong Cham province in Cambodia. She is married and has one son and two grandchildren. Lim's husband is also a rice farmer, while their son works in food service for weddings. Five years ago, Lim developed a pterygium - a non-cancerous growth - in her left eye. This condition is most often caused by cell damage in the eye due to too much exposure to the sun and results in visual impairment and physical discomfort. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is seeking $225 to cover the total costs of Lim's treatment. On February 6th, doctors at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will remove the abnormal conjunctiva from Lim's eye and replace it with a graft, which should prevent a recurrence. Lim is looking forward to being able to see clearly again and is hopeful that you will support her in funding her procedure. Lim said: "I hope after surgery my eye will stop watering and I can work comfortably, and not worry all the time."

Song is a loving, 76-year-old grandmother. She has three children and thirteen grandchildren and lives with her husband in a rural province of Cambodia. A devout Buddhist, Song's favorite activity is going to the pagoda in her village and listening to the monks on the radio. A year ago, Song developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her to experience blurry vision and itchiness. She also has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so she cannot go places on her own. When Song learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled for four and a half hours seeking treatment. On January 5th, doctors will perform cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. CSC is requesting $253 to fund this procedure. Song shared: "I hope I can see more clearly, so I can recognize faces and join ceremonies at our pagoda."

Som is a 68-year-old retired rice farmer from Kompong Cham. She has two sons, five daughters, and fifteen grandchildren. Sadly, ten years ago, her husband passed away from a heart attack. Since then, she has retired and lives with one of her sons who took over the rice farm. Her hobbies are cooking and visiting the mosque in her village. Around two years ago, Som developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her tearing and blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, thus is unable to travel on her own. When Som learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for four and a half hours seeking treatment. On March 6th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and place an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $253 procedure. She said, "I want to be able to see again because I feel very afraid when I go out."
