George is a small-scale farmer who works alongside his wife, and they primarily cultivate potatoes. He completed his education through sixth grade before discontinuing his studies. George's eldest child is 52 years old, while the youngest is 23 years old. Most of his children are married and have familial responsibilities. For around nine months, George has had a right inguinal hernia. It started as a small painless swelling in his inguinal region. Initially, he believed it would resolve on its own over time, given the absence of pain. Consequently, he didn't seek medical attention at the time. However, he recently began experiencing elevated temperatures around the inguinal area, particularly when standing for extended periods. Concerned, he shared his symptoms with a friend, who advised him to seek medical attention. George reports that he can work as usual and his productivity has not been significantly affected. However, he fears that if left untreated, his condition may hinder his ability to work effectively in the future. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), can help. On July 12, George will undergo hernia repair surgery at our AMH's care center. AMH is requesting $170 to fund George's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. George says, “I hope for a successful surgery. I will continue with farming so that I may be able to take good care of myself and my family.”

San is a retired coffee seller from Cambodia. Her husband passed away a few years ago, and San shared that she misses him dearly. San has four sons, one daughter, and fifteen grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes include watching TV and listening to the monks pray on her radio. About seven months ago, San developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her to experience difficulty recognizing people and objects. Due to the deterioration in her vision, she is unable to do things she used to do and is feeling depressed. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so she cannot go places independently. When San learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled an hour seeking treatment. On June 5th, doctors will perform cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. CSC is requesting $253 to fund this procedure. San contributed $100 to her care. She said: "I hope that, after the surgery, my eyes will improve and I will be able to see better. I want to visit my relatives and enjoy my life."

Vuon is an 85-year-old retired rice farmer from Cambodia. She is a widow with seven children and ten grandchildren. After her husband died four years ago, she moved in with one of her daughters and two of her grandchildren. Since her vision has deteriorated, she mostly stays at home and enjoys listening to the monks pray on the local radio station. When she used to be able to go out more, she enjoyed going to the pagoda in her village. Around three years ago, Vuon developed entropion of the eyelids. This means that her eyelids roll inward, causing her eyelashes to scrape her eyes. As a result of this condition, it is difficult for her to open her eyes, and she constantly feels uncomfortable. Vuon traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On June 7th, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), will perform a corrective procedure to repair her eyelids. Now, Vuon needs help to raise $249 to fund this procedure. Vuon said: "After surgery, I hope I can feel happy to not have this bother me anymore, and I can go to the pagoda on my own."
