Khin is a loving grandmother. She is 72 years old and lives in Kandal province, Cambodia. She is a widow and has two sons, four daughters, and nineteen grandchildren to keep her busy. Currently, she lives with her youngest daughter who is a grocery seller. At home, she enjoys listening to the monks pray on the radio and joining ceremonies at the pagoda.
About a year ago, Khin developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision, cloudy lens, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on her own.
When Khin learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On December 8th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and place an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $253 procedure.
Khin said, “After surgery, I hope I can see better and be more of a help to my daughter around her house.”
