Ester is a 32-year-old small-scale farmer from Uganda. She is married and she and her husband have two children together, who were both delivered via cesarean section in 2008 and 2015 respectively. Both children currently attend primary school. Ester attended school through the fifth grade but discontinued her education due to a lack of funding. Ester's parents are both small-scale farmers as well, and Ester is the third born of their nine children. During her free time, Ester enjoys spending time with her family. Ester is currently expecting her third child. Due to scars from her previous C-Sections, her doctors recommend that she deliver via a cesarean section again to ensure the safety of her and her baby. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Ester undergo a C-Section on July 4th. This procedure will cost $252, and Ester needs your support. Ester says, “I am on my knees for this support as I cannot afford the bills. I hope for the best delivery and resume farming after full recovery to earn a living.”

Primah is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. Her husband works as an attendant at the National Water Company but receives a modest salary that barely covers their basic needs. She is a mother of three children, all delivered via caesarean section. Her first child was born in 2016, the second in 2017, and the third in 2020. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Primah has come to the antenatal clinic to schedule a C-section for a safe and healthy pregnancy outcome. Primah has been diligently attending the antenatal clinic at Kawala Hospital in Kampala, where she has received comprehensive care. She is currently expecting her fourth child. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section because of her higher risk. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Primah undergo a C-section on September 19. This procedure will cost $252, and Primah and her family need your support. Primah says, “I appeal to donors to support my surgery. I am hopeful that after the surgery, I will be able to return to farming.”

Vorn is a 65-year-old rice farmer from Kampong Cham province in Cambodia. He has two sons, two daughters, and nine grandchildren. He lives with his wife and his youngest son, who are also farmers. About five years ago, Vorn developed a pterygium in his left eye, causing him constant tearing and irritation. Pterygiums are non-cancerous growths of the conjunctiva, a mucous layer that lubricates the eye. The growths occur when the conjunctiva is damaged due to excessive sun exposure, causing the abnormal growth of cells over the pupil. Vorn is worried that this condition has permanently affected his eye and that he will go blind. Vorn sought treatment from our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre. With their help, he is now scheduled to have a surgical procedure to remove the abnormal conjunctiva from the surface of the cornea and replace it with a conjunctival graft, which should prevent a recurrence. The procedure, which will cost $225, is scheduled for April 25th, at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre. Vorn needs help to raise the money to cover the costs of the procedure, medications, supplies, and two days of inpatient care. Vorn shared: "I hope after surgery my eye will no longer be irritated and tearing, and I won’t worry about my eye anymore. I need to work to feed my family."
