Catherine is a smallbusiness woman and mother of four. She pursued a diploma in business administration, but unfortunately, she has been unable to secure a job in her field. As a result, she operates a small retail shop to earn a living. However, due to its remote location in the village and limited capital invested, her income from the shop is limited. To supplement her earnings, she engages in farming. Her husband is involved in the bodaboda (moto-taxi) business and together they reside in a two-room rental house. While they can manage their daily expenses with their combined income, they cannot gather the necessary funds for the surgery that Catherine needs. Catherine is currently expecting a new baby. Because her pregnancy is high risk and she previously lost another baby to miscarriage, her doctors recommend that she deliver via a cesarean section. This recommendation aims to prevent complications such as uterine rupture, which could be life-threatening. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Catherine undergo a C-Section on July 11th. This procedure will cost $252, and Catherine needs your support. Catherine says, “I am looking forward to a successful delivery, if I am given your support, because I am worried about my hospital bill.”

Ko Thaw, who is 27 years old, lives with his extended family in Burma. In early June 2022, Ko Thaw- who was working in a factory in Malaysia- developed a headache. Later that day, he also experienced chest pain, a racing heart, and an episode of vomiting. His employer brought him to the hospital, and after some testing, Ko Thaw was informed there was a problem with his aortic valve. He was given medications and a follow-up appointment. In January 2023, Ko Thaw's health deteriorated, and he was brought back to the hospital. An echocardiogram showed aortic valve regurgitation, and Ko Thaw was told that he would need surgery. His employer wouldn't pay for the surgery, and as Ko Thaw couldn't afford to pay for this on his own, he tried to manage his condition with medication. But when the medications stopped working, Ko Thaw decided to move back to Burma. Ko Thaw was referred to our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund. With their help, he is now scheduled to undergo mitral valve replacement surgery on May 14th at Pun Hlaing Hospital. For Ko Thaw, who currently experiences chest pain, insomnia, muscle stiffness, and headaches with fever, this surgery can't happen soon enough. Now he is seeking your help to raise $1,500 to cover the cost of his treatment. "I hope I can find suitable work soon after my surgery. I would like to say thank you so much. You all do incredible work for poor people who need assistance," said Ko Thaw.

Vuthy is a 37 year-old construction worker living in Kampong Cham province in Cambodia with his wife and their four year old daughter. He and his wife are expecting their second child in the spring. When not on construction jobs, Vuthy works in the rice paddies, and as a handyman in his village. In September, one of the machines at Vuthy's workplace malfunctioned, and fractured his forearm. Since then, he has been receiving treatment from a traditional healer in his village, but the fracture has not healed. He is unable to work, and is in chronic pain. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On November 13th, Vuthy will undergo a fracture repair procedure at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre, which will cost $483. This procedure will enable Vuthy to regain the function of his arm, and eliminate the pain he lives with now. Vuthy said: "I want my arm to get fixed so I can go back to work and support my family."
