Mann is a retired farmer with three children and one grandson. These days she is very busy looking after her 3-year-old grandson while his parents work at a construction site. About four years ago, she noticed a mass forming on her cheek. Since then, she has been afraid to see a doctor, but her family finally convinced her to seek help. During her consultation, Mann was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma. She currently experiences discomfort and occasional bleeding. When Mann learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On March 2nd, surgeons at CSC will perform an excision of the mass and skin flap procedure to to help her feel comfortable again and stop the risk of cancer spreading. Now, she needs help to fund this $673 procedure. Mann shared that after surgery she hopes to go back home and resume taking care of her grandson without worrying about her face or cancer.

Marvens is a toddler who lives with his parents and his older sister. His parents are looking forward to starting him in preschool as soon as he recovers from his surgery. Marvens has a cardiac condition called partial anomalous pulmonary vein return (PAPVR). One of the major veins in Marvens' chest connects to his heart in a location that is not anatomically normal. As a result, blood cannot flow normally through his body, leaving him weak and short of breath. On March 1st, Marvens will undergo cardiac surgery, during which surgeons will detach the vein from his heart and reattach it at the anatomically correct position. Marvens' family needs help to fund the costs of surgery, and the prep and follow-up care required. Marvens family and our medical partner have been able to raise some of the support needed, but still are in need of $1,500 and have turned to the Watsi community for support. Marvens' mother says: "Our family is very happy to have this chance, and will be praying for everyone who is helping us!"

Ly is a retired car mechanic from Phnom Penh, Cambodia. His family includes four sons, two daughters, and eleven grandchildren. He lives in the city with his wife and youngest daughter, who works in a local restaurant. Ly enjoys passing his time tinkering with cars and keeping up with current events on his phone. About two years ago, Ly developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him to experience photophobia, tearing, and blurry vision. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so he cannot go places on his own. He is also frustrated because he is unable to ride his motorbike or read the news on his phone due to the difficulty in viewing the screen. Fortunately, our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. On May 11th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. CSC is requesting $253 to fund this procedure. Ly contributed $100 to his care.
