Phionah is a drug shop owner and trained nurse from Uganda. Her husband is a motorcycle taxi operator, and together they work hard to provide for their family. During her free time, Phionah enjoys spending time with her family. Phionah is currently expecting her third child. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section because of her two previous scars. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Phionah undergo a C-Section on March 9th and asking for $252 to fund her care. Phionah says, “It has always been a struggle paying the hospital bill every time I’ve delivered by surgery, but this time, with your support, I know all will be well.”

Bee is a 65-year-old retired farmer. She is single and moved in with her brother-in-law after her sister passed away in a motorbike accident two years ago. She used to help around the house and plant vegetables, but she has been unable to for the last couple of years as her vision has deteriorated. When her vision was better, she used to volunteer at her village pagoda to cook and clean for the monks. About two years ago, Bee developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her light sensitivity, tearing, and blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on her own. When Bee learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for five and a half hours seeking treatment. On February 2nd, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and implant an intraocular lens in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $253 procedure. She said, "I hope after surgery my eye can see better so I can easily go out, and I can help my brother do some housework."

Channa is a 6-year-old first-grader from Cambodia. She lives at home with her parents and two siblings. Her father is a construction worker, and her mom stays home to take care of the children. Channa loves to paint, eat fried eggs, and is enjoying learning to read. Since last year, Channa has been experiencing recurring sore throats, difficulty breathing, sneezing, and a persistent runny nose. The frequent illness causes her to miss school. Channa was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $265 to fund a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for Channa, which is scheduled to take place on February 2nd. Surgeons will remove her tonsils and adenoids, hopefully relieving Channa of her symptoms and helping her live much more comfortably. Her mom said, "I hope after surgery she can feel okay again."
