Eh is a 58-year-old father of two from Burma. Eh became unemployed following a motorbike accident that left his leg weakened. He now relies on his wife, who sells betel nuts and noodles for support. During his free time, Eh enjoys weaving bamboo baskets. Eh has been diagnosed with multiple large gallstones. He has enduring intense right-sided abdominal pain, accompanied by back pain and a diminished appetite. Due to the pain, he also faces trouble sleeping at night. Eh has been advised to undergo a cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of the gallbladder. If left untreated, Eh's symptoms will continue to worsen and put him at risk for further health complications in the future. After seeking treatment through our medical partner Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), Eh is scheduled to undergo his cholecystectomy on September 4th. BCMF is requesting $1,500 to cover the cost of Eh's procedure and care. Eh said, "I stopped working for a year, and I have no income, so I am stressed about my treatment. However, when I learned that BCMF would help me access treatment, I felt very happy. I want to express my gratitude and say thank you to the donors and BCMF for supporting my treatment."

Beatrice is a 31-year-old woman, who lives with her husband and three young children in Kenya. She is a homemaker, while her husband works at a flower farm near their home. Three years ago, Beatrice began to experience troubling symptoms, including a neck swelling. She was diagnosed with a non-toxic, multinodular goiter, which was surgically removed about a month ago. After the mass was biopsied, however, it was determined that Beatrice has papillary thyroid carcinoma, a thyroid cancer commonly caused by genetic factors. She was informed that she would need a total thyroidectomy, to prevent further damage and other disease complications. Unfortunately, the medical insurance provided by her husband's job, won't pay for a second operation in the same year. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Beatrice to access the care that she needs. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on July 27th, at AIC Kapsowar Hospital. Surgeons will remove all of her thyroid gland, in a procedure that will cost $936. Beatrice and her family need your help to raise this money. Beatrice says: "I am so broken right now. I feel sorry for myself and my children, as they really need me. I believe I will get well to continue being there for my family.”

George is a 60-year-old bus conductor who manages coaches along the Rukungiri-Kampala highway in Southwestern Uganda. He is married with three children. George was a grade three teacher before joining the transport business in hopes of better pay; however, he shared that his income is still insufficient to meet his family’s needs. George has had swelling behind his left knee for the past four years. The swelling has been growing over time and is causing him piercing pain and paralysis. Due to limited finances, he has not sought treatment before, but when his symptoms became severe, he visited our medical partner’s care center for review. After examination, George was diagnosed with a bakers cyst on his left leg. He needs to undergo mass removal surgery on May 26th to finally heal. George is raising $137 to fund this procedure. George shared, “I hope my leg will get fine. If I get support to undergo surgery, I will continue with work in good health.”
