Channy is a 23-year-old rice farmer. She and her husband are the parents of a lively and active two year old daughter. Together, Channy and her husband work long hours on their ancestral rice paddy, a labor of love that provides sustenance and a small income for their family. While she doesn't have much free time, when she does, Channy likes to clean the house and play with her daughter. Four years ago, when she was working in Thailand, Channy was involved in a traffic collision, and fractured her left femur. She had surgery in Thailand, and a metal plate was placed on her femur to align her fractured bones into place for optimal healing. Her femur has now healed completely, and she needs to have the hardware removed. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On November 3rd, Channy will undergo a hardware removal procedure at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre, which will cost $304. This procedure will remove the metal from her body, and reduce the chronic ache she feels in her leg and the risk for future infection. Now Channy needs your help to fund this procedure. Channy said: "I hope that after this, I will no longer feel any sharp pains when the weather is cold, and be able to walk without the itchy feeling of the hardware in my thigh."

Sok Din is a 13 year-old seventh grader who lives in Takeo province with his parents and two brothers. Both of his parents are rice farmers. Sok Din is one of the top students in his class, and he is hoping to study biology at university. When he was 10 months old, Sok Din burned his hand and lower leg in an accidental gasoline fire at home. Using their savings and borrowed money, the family travelled to Vietnam, so that Sok Din could be treated. Thankfully, the treatment was successful, and Sok Din returned home a few weeks later. Since then, however, scar contractures have developed, tightening the skin on his left hand, limiting his hand's functionality, and making Sok Din feel embarrassed at school. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is seeking $495 to fund burn contracture release surgery for Sok Din, which is scheduled for May 18th, at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre. After his surgery, Sok Din and his family hope that he will be able to use his hand more fully, and that he will no longer feel embarrassed at school.

Phearith is an 8-year-old child who lives with his parents and brother in Phnom Penh. His father works in a private company and his mother stays home to watch his younger brother, who is two years old. Phearith has a learning disability and attends a special school for children with autism. He enjoys drawing and painting at school. His favorite pastimes are swimming and riding his bicycle, as well as eating his mother's fried chicken and fried pork. Two days ago, Phearith's mother noticed that he was rubbing his ear and his ear was very red. It was difficult for him to tell his parents how he felt, and when his mother shined a flashlight in his ear, she saw a small black object. Phearith is very unhappy. If the object stays in his ear, it could lead to infection and long-term hearing loss. Phearith's family traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On September 15, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), will remove the mass. Now, Phearith and his family need help to raise $273 to fund this procedure. His father said, "I hope his ear stops being painful for our son, and the doctors can remove it."
