Khine is a 17-year-old girl from Burma. She lives with her mother, her older sister, and her uncle's family. She works as a domestic worker. Three months ago, she started to feel dizzy and have headaches. She had a CT scan at Mae Sot Hospital, which indicated she might have a brain tumor. Shine experiences headaches, dizziness, and sometimes vomits. She has also had seizures multiple times and weakness in her limbs. She has little appetite and has lost weight. Gradually, she is losing her ability to speak. Khine sought treatment through our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund. She is now scheduled to undergo surgery to remove the tumor on February 3rd. She is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of her procedure and care. Her uncle said, "Although I am a man, I have cried for my niece. I even thought about selling one of my organs (for money), one of my kidneys perhaps, because we cannot afford to treat her. Thank you to all the donors for helping my niece. After she is treated, I want her to have a happy family, with a husband and children. I cannot wait to see my niece happy."

Christopher is a 68-year-old, small-scale farmer from Uganda. He is a father of three, whose children are all in secondary school at different levels. Christopher and his wife grow beans, mainly for home consumption, while living in a mud house for shelter. For two years, Christopher has lived with a left inguinal hernia. He first developed an intermittent, painless inguinal swelling, that has grown over time. The swelling mainly appears whenever he coughs or does heavy work. It’s not painful, but Christopher is very worried about what might happen if his condition remains untreated. He understands that the hernia is at risk of strangulation, which could result in more serious medical issues. Fortunately, on January 19th, Christopher is scheduled to undergo hernia repair surgery at Rushoroza Hospital. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $170 to fund Christopher's surgery, which once completed, should allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Christopher says: “I am worried of what may come out of this condition if not treated. I hope to continue with my farming work more easily after my surgery.”

Adriki is an 11-year-old boy from southern Tanzania where he lives with one sibling and his mother. He is a 3rd-grade student at their local primary school, where his favorite classes are mathematics and English. It is Adriki's dream to be an excellent farmer like his mother and help his family in crop production and cattle breeding. In 2018, Adriki was in the kitchen while his mother was cooking when his trouser caught fire. The fire burnt his right leg around the knee. After the wounds were fully healed, the skin at the back of his right leg was damaged, limiting the extent to which his knee could bend. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, can help Adriki with treatment. On March 9th, surgeons at their care center will perform a burn contracture release surgery to help him walk easily again. Now, he needs help to fund this $832 procedure. Adriki says, “I wish to be able to walk to school without using too much effort.”
