Seak is a 19-year-old farmer, living with her parents and two older siblings in Kampong Thom province. Her father is disabled and cannot work, while the rest of her family members are rice farmers. When she is home, Seak helps her mother in the house, and likes to listen to music. On September 11th, Seak was riding her motorbike on her way home, when she collided with a tuk-tuk. She fell from her bike onto her left arm, lacerating her left hand on the concrete. At the local clinic, an X-ray of Seak's arm revealed that she had fractured her humerus - a bone in her upper arm. While she was transferred to the local hospital for care, she was unable to pay, and returned home. Her arm is swollen, and she lives in constant pain, only using her arm and hand with great difficulty. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On September 12th, Seak will undergo a fracture repair procedure at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre, which will cost $483. This surgery will repair her bone, enabling her to use her arm again. Seak's family needs your help to raise the funds to pay for her procedure. Seak said: "After surgery, I hope I will have no pain and can work like before to help my family."

Sor is a 72-year-old loving grandmother from Kampong Thom province, Cambodia. Now retired, she worked for many years as a rice farmer. She has two daughters and eight grandchildren. Sor was widowed many years ago when her husband disappeared during the Khmer Rouge regime. She now lives with her youngest daughter and family, who are also rice farmers. In her free time, Sor likes to listen to monks pray on the radio and help care for her grandchildren. Two years ago, Sor developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her photophobia, itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. She often stays indoors for days at a time because she cannot tolerate the bright sun or see in low light. When Sor learned about our medical partner Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On July 25th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery, and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Sor is able to contribute to the cost of the surgery and needs $253 to fully fund her procedure. She said, "I hope after surgery I can go to the pagoda by myself. I want to be able to do things on my own and help my grandchildren more."

Yuth is a 15-year-old student from Cambodia. He lives in Takeo province with his parents and two siblings. His dad works in construction, and his mom works in a nearby shoe factory. Yuth is the oldest child in the family and enjoys spending time with his siblings and watching TV. Prior to his injury, he spent most of his time playing soccer with his friends from school. In September 2023, Yuth was in a motorbike accident and fractured his left leg. He was rushed to a nearby clinic to stop the bleeding and then referred to another hospital for treatment. The wound on his leg became badly infected, and the doctors suggested an amputation. His family then visited our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), for a second opinion. Currently, it is difficult for Yuth to walk, and he is in chronic pain. He has been unable to attend school since the accident. Fortunately, surgeons at CSC can help. On October 3rd, Yuth will undergo a fracture repair procedure. The surgeons will do a bone transfer procedure, an osteotomy to reshape the bone fixed to the knee joint, and external fixation to stabilize the bones. With this procedure, Yuth's limb will be saved, and he will experience reduced pain and improved mobility. CSC is requesting $483 to fund this surgery. Yuth shared, "I hope I can go back to school without pain and walk again someday."
