Tha is a 71-year-old retired rice farmer from Svay Reing province. She currently lives with her youngest daughter who is a farmer. At home, she enjoys listening to the monks pray on the radio and cooking for her eight grandchildren. Two years ago, Tha developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision and light sensitivity. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, thus is unable to travel on her own. When Tha learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for four and a half hours seeking treatment. On April 28th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and implant an intraocular lens in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $253 procedure. Tha shared: "I hope after surgery I can see better, go outside, and take care of myself well."

Ly Huor is a 19 month-old toddler who lives in Pursat province with his grandparents. His grandmother is his main caretaker as his mom and dad work factory jobs several hours away. They are able to visit Ly Huor every few weekends. At home, Ly Huor likes playing with the kids in the village and eating soup. In December 2022, his right hand was burned when he accidentally put his hand into a pot of hot rice porridge. Burn scar contractures have developed, tightening the skin around his burn. He has difficulty holding objects and playing with toys. When Ly Huor's family learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, they traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On September 14th, surgeons at CSC will perform a burn contracture release surgery to to help him to use his hand easily again. Now, his family needs help to fund this $495 procedure. His grandmother shared, "I hope he can use his hand again and play with the other kids."

Rayuth loves soccer and fishing, and his favorite subject is math. He hopes to continue his studies and receive a teaching degree. Rayuth lives in Kampong Chhnang province with his parents and three younger siblings. Both of his parents sell vegetables in the local market. In January 2023, he was in a motorbike accident and fractured his left femur and tibia. He underwent multiple surgeries in the provincial hospital, but his leg was unable to heal, and he had a below-the-knee amputation four weeks later. Since then, he has developed pain and subsequently limited range of motion in his left knee. He and his mother traveled for 3 hours to the Children's Surgical Centre for consultation. Rayuth needs to undergo an amputation revision surgery with targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR). This nerve transfer technique aids in reducing pain at the amputation site. Now, his family needs support to fund the $572 procedure and post-op care. Rayuth shared, "I will be happy not to have pain anymore and start moving on with my life and studies."
