Vireak Thet is a happy two-year-old boy from Cambodia. He lives in Phnom Penh with his parents and grandmother. His mom stays at home to care for him, and his dad works as a motorbike taxi driver. To supplement their income, his grandma sells ice cream from a cart in front of their home. Vireak Thet loves playing with the other children in the neighborhood, and eating ice cream from his grandma's cart. Last year, Vireak Thet accidentally burned his right hand with hot cooking oil. Burn scar contractures have developed, tightening the skin around his index and middle fingers. It is difficult for him to use his hand for every day activities. Fortunately, our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), can help Vireak Thet. On August 9th, surgeons at CSC's care center will perform a burn contracture release surgery to to improve the function of his hand. Now, his family needs help to fund this $495 procedure. His mom shared, "I hope he can move his fingers freely and be able to use his hand when he starts school."

Editor is a farmer from Uganda. She comes from a very humble family, and she is a total orphan - having lost both of her parents. Editor shared that she never saw her parents, and just heard stories about what they looked like because they died while she was still a toddler. After the death of her parents, her grandmother took over the responsibility. She had no money to facilitate her education, and she dropped out of school before completing seventh grade. In 2014, Editor decided to get married to her husband, who is a small-scale farmer. They lived in a rented house. At the beginning of this year, Editor separated from her husband and lost contact with him. She could not raise rental fees for their home, and she ended up being kicked out of the house. Fortunately, a good neighbour had a free store, and she gave it to her. Currently, Editor and her two children live in that small store, and they survive by working on the neighbor’s farm or sometimes her friends donate things. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her children. She is currently expecting a new baby. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section because of her high risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Editor undergo a C-Section on November 23rd. This procedure will cost $207, and Editor needs your support. Editor says, "my desire is to safely deliver my child in good health. I am my family's only breadwinner and I don't have money to pay for surgery."

Kelvin is a student from Kenya and the eldest of 4 children. He is a student at Kitui School for the mentally challenged. His mother told us that he likes listening to music, playing football and operating a phone. Our partners in AIC Cure International met him at their Matuu clinic accompanied by his mother Petronilla who works as a peasant farmer. Kelvin has clubfoot of his right foot, a condition that was noted by the mother when he was 1 year old. His foot is twisted out of shape, which causes difficulty walking and wearing shoes. This condition formed because he used to convulse. He started medication and experienced delayed milestones. At the age of 3, Kelvin began to exhibit an unusual walking style and was diagnosed with hemiplegia, a type of unilateral cerebral palsy that causes paralysis on only one side of the body. Fortunately, our medical partner African Mission Healthcare (AMH) can help. AMH is requesting $1,286 to fund Kelvin's clubfoot repair. The treatment will be impactful to him because he will be able to walk without falling and play football with his friends. Kelvin’s mother shared, “I would love to see my son’s condition corrected so he can be independent. I will appreciate any support from AMH, and God bless you.”
