Brandon is a 9-year-old student who is an active and social boy in class 4. He likes playing football and socializing with others. He aspires to become a doctor in the future so that he can perform surgeries for children. He is the first born in a family of 3 children. His mother is a housewife, while his father is a businessman. Brandon was born with clubfoot of both feet. He underwent serial casting treatment at a young age, where he wore a series of casts to gradually move the feet to the correct position. The right foot was corrected, but the left foot reverted back to clubfoot. He has been having difficulties walking and playing football, his favorite sport. Fortunately, Brandon and his parents traveled to visit our medical partner African Mission Healthcare (AMH). He has been being treated with serial casting for the left foot again to soften the tissues and is scheduled to undergo a clubfoot repair surgery on August 16th. AMH is requesting $1,286 to fund Brandon's clubfoot repair. The treatment will be impactful because he will be able to walk confidently and play football with his friends. Brandon’s mother shared, “I would love to see my son walking like other children and achieve his dream career of becoming a doctor.”

Hen is a 46-year-old construction worker from Cambodia. She lives in Kampot province with her husband and her three children. Both Hen and her husband recently got jobs in construction, after many years as rice farmers. In her free time, Hen likes spending time with her family and growing vegetables around her house. In 2020, Hen was in a motorbike accident and fractured her left knee. She was taken to a nearby clinic and treated for the fracture with internal hardware. The fracture has healed, but she developed chronic pain and muscle stiffness in her left leg. She is unable to fully straighten her knee, which makes everyday activities extremely difficult or impossible. When Hen learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On July 11th, surgeons at CSC will perform a quadricepsplasty procedure on her left leg. This procedure will help her improve her leg function and mobility. Now, Hen needs help to fund this $482 procedure. She shared, "I hope I can go home and be able to walk and not be in pain."

Alisa is two weeks old and the firstborn in her family. She lives with her parents- who are overjoyed to welcome her into the world- in Tanzania, where her father works at Asante Rabi Express, while her mother sells harvested crops at a local shop. Alisa's mother noticed that her left leg appeared different from her right leg. Concerned about this, she sought advice from the doctor at the hospital. The doctor diagnosed Alisa with clubfoot, a very treatable condition. Alisa’s treatment involves a series of casts that will be changed every few weeks. The casts are designed to gradually shift her foot into the correct position. After the casting, she is going to have tenotomy surgery on her left foot, a minor procedure that will release the Achilles tendon. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is seeking $935 to fund Alisa's clubfoot repair surgery, which is scheduled for April 21st at Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre. As a result of her treatment, Alisa will be able to wear shoes and walk without feeling any discomfort. Alisa’s mother said: “The warm welcome made us feel safe and gave us hope that our daughter will be okay.”
