Veasna is a student in the fifth grade and has many friends, even though he describes himself as shy. In addition to his friends, Veasna loves spending time with his mom and older brother. Sadly, his dad passed away in a motorbike accident before Veasna was born. Veasna has strabismus in both eyes. Strabismus is a misalignment of the eye caused by injury or dysfunction in the associated nerves and muscles. He is having trouble reading, which is his favorite subject at school. Left untreated, he could face permanent vision problems, including double vision and issues with depth perception. Veasna's family traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On March 2nd, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), will perform a corrective procedure to align his eyes. Now, Veasna's family needs help to raise $331 to fund this procedure. His mom said, "I hope Veasna can have surgery and not be shy about his eyes."

Mao is a 52-year-old grandmother from Kompong Chhnang province in Cambodia. She is married and has two sons, four daughters, and nine grandchildren. She earns a living by selling packaged food in her local market and her husband is a police officer. In her free time, she likes to watch the news and check her Facebook. Three years ago, Mao developed a pterygium in her right eye, causing her itchiness and tearing. Pterygiums are non-cancerous growths of the conjunctiva, a mucous layer that lubricates the eye. The growths occur when the conjunctiva is exposed to excessive sun damage and the cells grow abnormally over the pupil. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, working, and going anywhere outside. When Mao learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. on February 9th, Mao will undergo treatment to remove the abnormal conjunctiva from the cornea surface and replace it with a conjunctival graft to prevent a recurrence. Mao needs help raising the $225 to fund her medications, supplies, and inpatient care for two days. Mao said, "I hope after surgery I can feel better and take care of my grandchildren."

Manor is a 31-year-old teacher from Cambodia. He is single, lives in Kandal province, and has nine siblings. He lives with and supports his elderly mother. When not teaching at the local school, he likes to read history books and help translate letters. For the past five years, he has had a mass slowly growing on the right side of his neck. Doctors have determined he has a goiter in his thyroid. The thyroid is a small gland located in the neck that makes hormones. Due to the growing mass, he has difficulty breathing and feels tension and fullness in his throat. He often feels fatigued from lack of sleep and has headaches. On January 24th, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), will remove the mass, removing the tension in his throat, and allowing him to breathe with greater ease. Manor needs help raising $273 to fund his procedure. He said: "I hope that after this treatment I will get better from this disease. I want the tension in my throat to stop and not feel tired."
