Dinah is a 3-year-old girl from Kenya. She is the second born in a family of three children. Her family hails from the interior part of North Pokot. Our medical partner met Dinah, accompanied by her grandmother, at a mobile community clinic in Kacheliba. The grandmother has nine children and is raising Dinah. She is a farmer and a herder and shared that she separated from her husband after he married several wives. Dinah was left by her parents, who are pastoralists and migrated to a different region. Because of the deformity, she could not walk for long distances. Dinah has clubfoot of right foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Fortunately, Dinah and her grandmother visited our medical partner's care center, AIC Cure International Hospital. There, surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery on October 17th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,286 to fund Dinah's clubfoot repair. After treatment, she will no longer be in pain and will be able to walk much more easily. “I am appealing for your support to help my grandchild undergo surgery so she can walk normally,” Dinah's Grandmother told us.

Jackline is a 17-year-old student from Machakos County in Kenya. She is in form three at AIC Kunikela High School and aspires to become a doctor in the future. Both of her parents are farmers. When she was one year old, Jackline was burned on her left elbow by hot water. After the burn healed, she developed a contracture of her elbow, preventing her from using her arm to help her mother around the house or play volleyball, her favorite sport. While she has been to different hospitals, the contracture remains, negatively impacting her self-esteem. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is here to help. On May 8th, surgeons at AIC Cure International Hospital will perform burn contracture release surgery, enabling Jackline to use her arm and hand more easily. Jackline and her family need your help to fund this $840 procedure. “My joy would be to use my hand like other people, and any help to correct this will be highly appreciated,” Jackline told us.

Dany is a 35-year-old loving mother from Kandal province, Cambodia. She has been unable to hear or speak since birth. Dany married a loving husband and they had a daughter together. However, tragedy struck when Dany's husband died in an auto accident, leaving her alone with her daughter. Dany supports her family by cleaning in restaurants and for other people. In her free time, she enjoys watching Khmer dramas on TV. One year ago, Dany developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking. Until now, her financial status has prevented her from receiving healthcare. When Dany learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On July 4th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery on Dany and implant an intraocular lens in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, Dany needs help to fund this $253 procedure. Her sister shared, "Dany has not been able to work for a year and is very sad and frustrated. I hope after the surgery, Dany's eyesight will improve and she will be able to work as a cleaner in restaurants."
