Sophal is a 56-year-old farm manager from Cambodia. He lives in Kandal province with his wife, daughter, and toddler grandson. His wife stays home to care for the house and their grandson, and his daughter is a factory worker. At home, he has a small vegetable farm to grow vegetables that supplement their diets. Twenty years ago, Sophal was in a motorbike accident and fractured his femur. At a government hospital, he had an open reduction and external fixation procedure. After the pins of the external fixation device were removed, he experienced a small infection. This infection has gotten worse since he injured the same femur again several years ago. He has visited a traditional Khmer healer, but the infection has remained. He suffers from pain and swelling. The abscess from the former pin site still oozes and he has difficulty walking or working. When Sophal learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for half an hour seeking treatment. On April 28th, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement procedure to remove damaged and infected tissue from the wound. Now, Sophal needs help to fund this $324 procedure. Sophal said: "I hope after surgery, my leg wound will heal and the pain will stop."

Omega is a five-year-old boy. He lives with his parents and two siblings, and enjoys playing with them. As the last born, he is spoiled and loved so much by his mother. They live in Hai, a small town in the Kilimanjaro Region. The parents are cattle breeders, who breed cattle for meat and milk. The cattle breeding business has been hard in the past few months because of drought. The green pastures and rivers they used to depend on to feed their cattle are now dry. Cattle are not producing enough milk, and the meat they produce is not preferred by most of the consumers around their area. In 2019, while Omega was playing with his brother, he got into an accident and fell into a pot of boiling tea. After the open wound healed, his right arm could not extend fully, making it hard for him to fully use his arm. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Omega receive treatment. On February 28th, surgeons at their care center will perform a burn contracture release surgery to help him use his arm freely. Now, his family needs help to fund this $874 procedure. Omega’s mother says, “I hope this treatment will give him a room of new possibilities in the future because his hand will limit him so much in his life.”

Priscillah, who is 61 years old, is a mother of six and a grandmother of three living in the arid region of Baringo County, Kenya. Despite being a retired ECD teacher, Priscillah does not have a pension because she was employed on contract. She and her husband work as millet and mango farmers in order to earn an income. A month ago, Priscillah visited the doctor, complaining about a neck mass that she first noticed 20 years ago. Recently, Priscillah began to experience troubling symptoms, such as fatigue, weight loss, and breathlessness. Her neighbor convinced her to be evaluated and after lab tests and an ultrasound were done, Priscillah was diagnosed with a multinodular goiter. As it was toxic, she was immediately placed on medications to prepare her for surgery. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Priscillah receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on May 4th at AIC Kapsowar Hospital. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland, which should ensure that she will be able to live a healthy and more comfortable life. Priscillah and her family need your help to raise $936 to cover the cost of this procedure. Priscillah happily said: "I never knew I would ever undergo surgery; I was ready to live with the condition until my death. Thank you for giving me this chance."
