Mark is a 3-year-old boy. He is a spirited, playful young boy who clings to his mother’s side and is the youngest of 5 children, having 1 brother and 3 sisters dedicated to their studies. Mark is enrolled in nursery class, and his mother fervently wishes for him to become a doctor someday. While his father is dealing with some mental health issues, his mother is shouldering the responsibility of caregiving. The family’s financial stability largely relies on his mother’s earnings from farming, a task she undertakes with determination and resilience.
For the past year, Mark has had a hydrocele, which is a swelling in a sensitive area. The swelling causes him pain during urination, walking, and even while sleeping. Despite the persistent discomfort, his mother, constrained by limited finances, could not seek medical help until his symptoms worsened significantly. Doctors recommend a hydrocelectomy treatment surgery to help him heal.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH) can help. Mark is scheduled to undergo hydrocele repair surgery on October 10th. His family needs help raising $146 to fully fund the surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Mark’s mother says, “I hope he will get well and continue studying in good health to pursue his dream of being a doctor one day.”
