Yoeng shared: "I hope after surgery I can see better and I feel happy. I want to join ceremonies at our village pagoda and take care of myself well." Yoeng is a widow from Kampong Cham. She has been a widow for many years, as her husband died during the Khmer Rouge regime. She has one son, one daughter, and four grandchildren. She was a rice farmer and has now passed her farm down to her daughter, with whom she now lives. At home, she likes listening to Buddhist prayers on the radio and cooking for her family. About one year ago, Yoeng developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. She often spends time alone at home because she is unable to go outside in the bright sun. When Yoeng learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On November 1, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery, and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $253 procedure.

Edwin is a married man with two children aged five and two. He works on construction sites to provide for his family. His wife is a homemaker, and when he does not get work, he tills his small piece of land, where they mainly get their food. Edwin works hard so that his family may not lack for their basic needs. When he realized he had a hydrocele, he was so worried since he is the sole breadwinner in the family. He has no medical coverage, and now he is appealing for help so that he may be able to live more comfortably. Edwin, a joyful individual, visited our medical partner's care facility yesterday after having symptoms for over two weeks. Upon realizing the presence of swelling, he promptly sought assistance at a nearby health center. However, he was subsequently referred to a more comprehensive facility where an ultrasound was performed, leading to a diagnosis of Acquired Hydrocele. Edwin was advised that surgery was the most effective action to avert potential complications. Following his return home, the swelling has continued to increase, prompting him to seek care from our health partner, African Mission Healthcare. During the evaluation, it was determined that surgery was necessary to address his condition. Now, Edwin needs help raising $737 to fund this procedure. Edwin says, "I am very uncomfortable with my current situation and look forward to getting well. Please help me get treatment."

Sandos lives in Kampong Cham province with his wife, parents, and sister. His wife is a homemaker, and both of his parents are retired, so he is the primary source of financial support for the family. When not working construction jobs, he likes to play soccer or sing popular Khmer songs. Sandos developed a right elbow deformity as a child, which limits his range of motion. When Sandos was working at a job a month ago, he fell and injured his elbow. His elbow is extremely painful; he cannot bend his arm or work. Fortunately, doctors at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Center, can help. Sandos has been diagnosed with arthritis, which occurs when the cartilage in the elbow becomes worn or damaged. Damage can occur due to an injury, such as a fracture or dislocation. He now needs help to pay for a $579 elbow repair surgery. After surgery and rehabilitation, Sandos will have an improved quality of life, decreased pain, and can return to construction work to support his family.
