Joy is a small-scale farmer. She is a 45-year-old widow since 2011 and has four children, all of whom are in school: two in primary class four and two in high school. She lives in a semi-permanent house with two rooms, which she shared is almost falling down due to her inability to finance repairs. Joy has not sought medical treatment before since her small-scale farming cannot pay for her healthcare, She is appealing for your support to cover the cost of her surgery. Since about one year ago, Joy has had a supra-umbilical hernia. The swelling has severely impacted her ability to perform her daily activities, as she is unable to bend or lift anything, which reduces her work performance, leading to a poor quality of life. If left untreated, she faces the risk of intestinal obstruction. Fortunately, on April 13th, she will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $230 to fund Joy's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow her to live more comfortably and confidently. Joy says, “I am blessed to be in your favors, and I appeal for your consideration to help me to undergo surgery and resume my work.”

Ratha lives in Phnom Penh with her parents and two siblings. Her mom stays at home to care for the kids, and her dad works in a printing shop. Her favorite things are eating pizza and riding her bike with her 10 year-old brother. Ratha has been diagnosed with bilateral genu varum, also known as bow legs. Ratha's condition is severe, with her legs turned inwards, which makes it difficult for her to walk and play. Fortunately, doctors at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, can help improve her mobility. Small plates are used to correct a deformity affecting the angle of the bone. They are inserted into one side of the growth plate, guiding growth of the limbs until they are straight. On September 13th, she will undergo surgery at Kien Khleang Rehabilitation Centre to help resolve her condition. Now she and her family need your help to fund the $521 cost of the surgery. Her mother hopes she is healthy soon and shared that she hopes surgery can help her daughter play with her friends and ride her bike more easily.

Priscillah, who is 61 years old, is a mother of six and a grandmother of three living in the arid region of Baringo County, Kenya. Despite being a retired ECD teacher, Priscillah does not have a pension because she was employed on contract. She and her husband work as millet and mango farmers in order to earn an income. A month ago, Priscillah visited the doctor, complaining about a neck mass that she first noticed 20 years ago. Recently, Priscillah began to experience troubling symptoms, such as fatigue, weight loss, and breathlessness. Her neighbor convinced her to be evaluated and after lab tests and an ultrasound were done, Priscillah was diagnosed with a multinodular goiter. As it was toxic, she was immediately placed on medications to prepare her for surgery. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Priscillah receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on May 4th at AIC Kapsowar Hospital. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland, which should ensure that she will be able to live a healthy and more comfortable life. Priscillah and her family need your help to raise $936 to cover the cost of this procedure.
