Dennis is a hardworking tricycle driver from the Philippines. He lives with his wife, Marecar, and their three-year-old child. Despite his hard work and dedication, Dennis's income is just enough for his family's basic needs but not for his needed surgical treatment. In October 2022, Dennis began to experience troubling symptoms, including pain and bleeding in a sensitive area. He sought medical consultation and was advised to undergo a colonoscopy. He was prescribed medicines to relieve the pain, but unfortunately, it has continued. He was then forced to have another medical checkup and was diagnosed with bleeding internal hemorrhoids, which gives him discomfort and pain, and hinders him from working to support his family. He needs surgery to prevent his symptoms from getting worse. Fortunately, our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), is helping Dennis receive treatment. He is scheduled to undergo a hemorrhoidectomy on June 20th at WSFP's care center. The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation is supporting a portion of the cost of his treatment, and WSFP is raising the remaining $1,285 to cover the cost of Dennis's procedure and care. Dennis shared, "I am very thankful to Watsi, World Surgical Foundation Philippines, and those helping us get this surgery done. It is such a big help for me and my family."

Josephine is a thirty-three-year-old woman from Uganda. She attended 7th grade but dropped out due to lack of financial support. She lost her mother and was left with the responsibility of looking after her four siblings. She later married, but now is single. She lives with her brother in a three-room house for shelter and practices farming to support their family. Josephine developed a small gluteal mass eight years ago. The gluteal swelling gradually increased in size progressively. This affects her day to day, especially when she is sitting. She worries that, if not treated, it could become infected and cause long-term risk. Josephine traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On November 17th, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Josephine needs help to raise $145 to fund this procedure. Josephine says, "After surgery, I will be able to live more comfortably. I hope to continue with farming and supporting my family."

Chan Heng is a seven-year-old first-grader. She lives in Kampong Chnang province with her parents and younger sister. Her mom works in a nearby garment factory, and her dad is a rice farmer. Chan Heng enjoys playing with her little sister, eating fried eggs with rice, and hopes to become a teacher one day. Approximately four years ago, Chan Heng started encountering a sore throat and challenges with swallowing, leading to frequent school absences and disrupted sleep. Chan Heng was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if left untreated, will cause her symptoms to persist and potentially worsen. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $265 to fund a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for Chan Heng, scheduled for June 8th. Through this procedure, surgeons aim to remove her tonsils and adenoids, hoping to alleviate Chan Heng's symptoms and significantly improve her overall comfort and well-being. Her mother shared, "I hope everything will be easier for my daughter after her surgery. I want her to feel well at school and sleep better."
