Jackline is a 17-year-old student from Machakos County in Kenya. She is in form three at AIC Kunikela High School and aspires to become a doctor in the future. Both of her parents are farmers. When she was one year old, Jackline was burned on her left elbow by hot water. After the burn healed, she developed a contracture of her elbow, preventing her from using her arm to help her mother around the house or play volleyball, her favorite sport. While she has been to different hospitals, the contracture remains, negatively impacting her self-esteem. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is here to help. On May 8th, surgeons at AIC Cure International Hospital will perform burn contracture release surgery, enabling Jackline to use her arm and hand more easily. Jackline and her family need your help to fund this $840 procedure. “My joy would be to use my hand like other people, and any help to correct this will be highly appreciated,” Jackline told us.

Nan Ei is a sweet 2-year-old toddler from Burma who loves playing with toys. Her father works as a delivery man, serving as the family's breadwinner, while her mother is a homemaker. In February 2023, Nan Ei developed a fever and a painful mass appeared in her neck. The mass has been increasing in size. With the help of Watsi, Nan Ei underwent a CT scan of her neck, which revealed a suspected thyroid cyst or infected branchial cleft cyst. Nan experiences painful swelling in her neck, accompanied by frequent fevers, making her mother concerned for her wellbeing. Nan Ei sought treatment through our medical partner Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), and she is now scheduled to undergo a mass removal surgery on October 11th. She and our medical partner BCMF need help raising $1,500 to cover the total cost of her procedure and care. Nan Ei's mother said, “I am thankful to you for assisting my baby’s treatment. I am hoping for the best. I would like to see my daughter grow up to become a doctor.”

Chroeun is a 35-year-old corn farmer and father from Cambodia. He and his wife have three children aged three, eleven, and fifteen. His children attend school, and his wife works with him in the corn fields. In his free time, Chroeun enjoys spending time with his family, and prior to his accident, he was an avid volleyball player. In February, Chroeun suffered burns on both of his arms from a fire at the corn fields. Burn scan contractures have developed, tightening the skin around his elbows. As a result, it is difficult for him to bend his arms, and he has difficulty doing everyday tasks. When Chroeun learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for an hour seeking treatment. On November 2nd, surgeons at CSC will perform a burn contracture release surgery to help improve function in his arms. CSC is requesting $495 to fund this procedure. Chroeun contributed $100 to his care. Chroeun shared, " I hope I can move my arms better so I can go back to work and help support my family."
