Marion is a 6-year-old student from the highlands of Elgeyo Marakwet county in Kenya. She is the second born in a family of three girls and currently attending preschool near her family home. Her parents are small-scale potato farmers. One day Marion's mother went to the river to fetch water. While she was gone, her children were sitting near an open fireplace at home making breakfast. Unfortunately, Marion's dress caught fire on the open flame, and as a result, she sustained severe burns on her back, abdomen and thighs. It has been difficult for her to walk, and the wounds are causing extreme discomfort. She especially needs a third surgery to treat the severity of her burns contractures. Despite Marion's parents having medical insurance, due to previous surgeries that she has had to treat the injuries, the insurance (a monthly subscription) has run its course and is no longer an option. Her parents do not have the funds to pay for Marion's surgery and need support. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is helping Marion receive treatment. On January 25th, surgeons at their care center will perform a burn contracture release surgery that will allow her to walk with greater ease and resume her normal life at home and school. Now, she and her family are requesting $1,478 to help fund this procedure. Marion's mother says, “I am really looking forward to seeing my daughter live and walk in a normal way. I worked hard to pay for insurance coverage, but unfortunately, it cannot fund the upcoming procedure. I am disappointed, but I will not lose hope. Kindly help her.”

Godfrey is a gentle and respectful man who is a father to four children, all of whom are studying in school. He started working at a young age, doing casual labor work on other people's farms while taking care of his siblings. Because of Godfrey's hard work, his sisters have become teachers and are married with families. Over time, Godfrey became a farm manager at a nearby convent, taking care of the pig farm there. Recently, Godfrey started experiencing symptoms such as needle-like pain, especially when lifting heavy objects, which has worsened while cultivating the farm. Godfrey's dream is to see his children thrive academically, and he is concerned that his health issues will keep him from working and supporting his family. Recently, Godfrey traveled to seek treatment and was diagnosed with a right inguinal hernia. On March 14th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery with the support of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Now African Mission Healthcare is requesting $230 to help support Godfrey's surgery. Godfrey said, "I hope I will get well after the operation because it's the only hope I'm left with. Nevertheless, without your help, I won't be able to raise the funds required for my operation, therefore I will truly need your assistance."

Seb is a retired rice farmer with three sons, three daughters, and fifteen grandchildren. A few years ago, her husband passed away from hypertension, and Seb moved in with her youngest daughter, also a rice farmer. At home, Seb enjoys listening to the radio, visiting her local pagoda, and spending time with her family. Two years ago, Seb developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking. This limits her in being able to go places on her own. When Seb learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for four and a half hours to seek treatment. On March 6th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs support to fund this $253 procedure. Seb said, "I hope I can see again after surgery. I would like to help my daughter cook and go to the pagoda by myself."
