Muk is a 46-year-old woman from Cambodia. She is married and has four sons and seven grandchildren. She lives in the capital city of Phnom Penh with her husband and youngest son, who is a high school student. Muk sells pork for a living and, in her free time, likes to watch the news and check her social media. About two years ago, Muk developed a pterygium in her right eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. Pterygiums are non-cancerous growths of the conjunctiva, a mucous layer that lubricates the eye. The growths occur when the conjunctiva is exposed to excessive sun damage, and the cells grow abnormally over the pupil. As a result, she has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, working, and going outside. When Muk learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled for an hour seeking treatment. Muk needs to undergo a surgical procedure to remove the abnormal conjunctiva from the cornea surface and replace it with a conjunctival graft to prevent recurrence. This surgery costs $225, which covers all medications, supplies, and inpatient care for two days. Muk will undergo surgery on August 7th. She contributed $50 to her care. Muk shared, "I hope I can have surgery and go back to my life without worrying and be able to do my job better."

Phionah is a small businesswoman from southwestern Uganda. She is a brilliant, confident, and sociable woman and loving mother of two children, both delivered via caesarean section, with one currently in nursery school and the other in primary school. Phionah managed to complete high school, but she could not pursue further education due to a lack of school fees. She worked as a housekeeper for a few years before meeting her husband and getting married. She now runs a small-scale retail shop, which provides her family's livelihood. Her husband works as a builder, and they reside in a single-room rental house in Nyarushanje trading centre. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Phionah is currently expecting her third child. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a Caesarean section because of two previous birth scars. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Phionah undergo a C-Section on August 8th. This procedure will cost $252, and Phionah needs your support. Phionah says “Paying for my surgery is the only worry I have because I have no money; however, I have faith that I will have a safe delivery if I get your support.”

Jessie is a ten-year-old child from Kenya. He is in grade three, and is an only child. His mother is a homemaker and his father owns a small barber shop. In his free time, Jessie loves to play with his friends About two weeks ago, Jessie was admitted to the hospital for an unrelated condition. On the day he was due to be discharged he complained of severe pain in his right groin area. As this was unrelated to the condition that originally brought him to the hospital, a scan was ordered, which showed that he has an undescended right testicle. Without treatment, Jessie will continue to experience pain, and will have an increased risk of developing hernias, testicular cancer, and fertility problems in the future. However, his family is not in the financial position to meet the cost of treatment for Jessie's condition. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), can help Jessie. On August 3rd, Jessie will undergo an orchidopexy at AMH's care center. AMH is requesting $483 to cover the total cost of Jessie's procedure and care. Jessie's father said, “You can’t imagine how we felt, we were happy to have him discharged from Hospital, only to discover another problem. Kindly support our son so that he may get relief from pain and any dangers of this condition,”
