Stravensky, who is 18 years old, and in his final year of high school, lives in Port-au-Prince in Haiti, with his parents and two sisters. He aspires to go on to university to study engineering. Stravensky was born with atrial septal defect, a cardiac condition, where a hole exists between the upper two chambers in his heart. Instead of circulating through his lungs and picking up oxygen, the blood leaks through the hole, leaving him weak and short of breath. Our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, is seeking $1,500 to fund the costs of the surgery that Stravensky needs to repair his heart. The procedure, during which the hole will be repaired, is scheduled for February 1st, at Clinica Corominas. After this life changing operation, Stravensky should be able to live a healthy and comfortable life, and to pursue his ambitions without experiencing his current symptoms. From Stravensky: "I have been hoping to have my heart fixed ever since I was a small child - I can't believe it is finally happening!"

Meet Kim Chea, a retired, 79-year-old grandmother, living in Kampong Thom province in Cambodia. She has five sons, five daughters, and fifteen grandchildren. Before retiring, she sold plates and dishware in the market. She currently lives with her husband and her youngest daughter, who sells papaya to earn income for the family. One year ago, Kim Chea developed a cataract in her left eye, which resulted in chronic discomfort and has also compromised her ability to see clearly. Kim Chea sought help for her condition from our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre. On February 6th, doctors at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform cataract surgery, and implant an intraocular lens in her left eye. After recovery, Kim Chea will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs your help to fund this $253 procedure. Kim Chea said: "I hope after surgery my eye can see better and I can join ceremonies at the pagoda."

Bos is a 65-year-old retired rice farmer. She lives in Kompong Cham province in Cambodia and has one sister and one daughter. She lives alone near her sister's house and is supported by her daughter, who works on a nearby farm. About three years ago, Bos developed a pterygium in her right eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. Pterygiums are non-cancerous growths of the conjunctiva, a mucous layer that lubricates the eye. The growth occurs when the conjunctiva is damaged by excessive exposure to the sun, causing abnormal cells to grow over the pupil. This condition impairs Bos' ability to see and function independently. Bos sought care from our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre. She will need surgery to remove the pterygium, and to receive a conjunctival graft, which should prevent a recurrence. Her procedure is scheduled to take place on January 31st at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre. Now Bos needs your help to fund the $225 to cover the cost of the procedure. Bos said: "I hope after surgery my eye can feel better and I don't have to worry anymore."
