Bonny is a 45-year-old woman that lives in Uganda with her husband and five children. Her children are all in school, and her husband runs a small farm. The family of seven currently lives in a two-bedroom house as they are trying to save money for a larger, permanent home. For two years, Bonny has been experiencing extreme pain and fatigue. She has been diagnosed with adenomyosis, a condition in which the inner lining of the uterus grows into the muscle wall of the uterus resulting in painful bleeding. Her symptoms have prevented her from working on the family farm, despite this being their sole source of income. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy - a procedure in which her doctors will remove her uterus. Fortunately, on January 19th, she will undergo surgery at our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH). Once recovered, Bonny will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Bonny is requesting $219 to fund this procedure. Bonny says, “I have had bad moments living with this condition, but I request you to consider me to have my health restored so that I can live a better life through farming.”

Gerald, a 36-year-old small-scale farmer from Uganda, is married with three children. Gerald and his wife make their living through farming. For the past three months, Gerald has been suffering from a right abdominal hernia. This hernia causes him pain when farming and swelling when he does heavy work. He is no longer able to work for long periods at a time, a direct impact on his livelihood, which has prompted him to seek medical attention. Gerald sought medical attention at Rushoroza Hospital from our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH). Gerald's doctors recommended a hernia repair surgery. Fortunately, on February 15th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at Rushoroza Hospital. AMH is requesting $170 to fund Gerald's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Gerald says, “I am in pain, and I need help. I hope that my productivity through farming will increase after surgery.”

Chhai Lim is a 72-year-old rice farmer from Kompong Chhnang province in Cambodia. He is married and has three daughters, five sons, and eleven grandchildren. Chhai Lim likes to say that while he might be old chronologically, his body is still strong, and he enjoys going to work every day in the rice field with one of his sons. When at home, he likes listening to the news on the radio and spending time with his family. One year ago, Chhai Lim developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him blurry vision, sensitivity to light, and tearing. The impact on his vision has made it difficult for Chhai Lim to continue to go to the rice fields or elsewhere on his own. Chhai Lim learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, and he traveled for four and a half hours to seek treatment. On March 20th, doctors at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform cataract surgery, and implant an intraocular lens in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now he needs your help to fund this $253 procedure. Chhai Lim said: "I hope after surgery my eye can see better and I can go back to farming rice."
