Johnson is a 62-year-old father of five from Uganda. He is a retired primary teacher who now works in small-scale farming, often working alongside his wife. They rely on this farming to sustain their livelihood. For over two years, Johnson has had a right inguinal hernia. He has had symptoms such as swelling and pain in his right inguinal region. Initially, he tolerated the discomfort, but the pain worsened, leading him to seek medical help. Johnson is scheduled to undergo a hernia repair surgery on July 11th. Our medical partner African Mission Healthcare (AMH) is requesting $230 to fund Johnson's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Johnson says, “I will be glad to have my life brought back to normal so that I can resume my activities for a living.”

Cleophas is a 43-year-old woman from Uganda. She and her husband practice small-scale farming. They are requesting assistance with Cleophas’s medical care, as undergoing surgery will provide Cleophas with the opportunity to regain her health and resume her work farming to help support their family financially. Sixteen years ago, Cleophas began to experience troubling symptoms, including a mass on her neck. She becomes easily fatigued and can struggle to breathe at times. Given her occupation as a farmer, these symptoms have negatively impacted her ability to work, resulting in a shortage of food at home for her family. Additionally, she faces challenges with speech, swallowing, and breathing. Her condition was diagnosed as a euthyroid goiter. Cleophas needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is helping Cleophas receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on August 15th at AMH’s care center. During this procedure, surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. AMH is requesting $252 to fund the cost of her surgery. Cleophas shared: “My condition has over-stayed with me, and I have had the poorest quality of life. Through your support, I will be able to live a positively changed life, thus resuming farming for a living.”

Nyamirere is a 70-year-old farmer from Uganda. She has three children, but sadly two have passed away. Her husband also passed away many years ago. Nyamirere lives with her remaining son who helps provide for her. For the past three years, Nyamirere has experienced severe abdominal pain. Due to the pain, Nyamirere is unable to do many of her daily activities, such as cooking and washing. After seeking treatment, Nyamirere was diagnosed with multiple uterine fibroids, a collection of non-cancerous smooth muscle tumors. Nyamirere's doctors recommended a total abdominal hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. However, Nyamirere is unable to afford this treatment. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), can help. On June 8th, Nyamirere will undergo a total abdominal hysterectomy at our AMH's care center. Once recovered, Nyamirere will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Now, AMH is requesting $219 to fund Nyamirere's surgery. Nyamireere says, "In my elderly years, I would prefer the best health, but I don’t have money to have it, but having heard of you, I had to come for the possible support. I will live better after surgery as I resume homestead activities."
