Peter is a student from Kenya who just completed secondary school. He is the third born in his family of seven children. Peter's father passed away, making his mother and older brother the primary providers for his family. His mother works as a small-scale farmer, while his brother works as a truck conductor. In his free time, Peter likes playing football with his friends. In early May, Peter slipped and fell on his left leg. His older brother brought him to the hospital, where Peter received an X-ray revealing a fractured tibia. He needs to undergo surgery to relieve his pain and ensure his leg heals properly to prevent future complications. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On May 15th, Peter will undergo a fracture repair procedure called an open reduction and internal fixation. Upon recovery, he will be able to walk with ease. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is requesting $1,049 to fund this procedure. Peter said: "I am just starting my adult life and have high hopes for how I wish it would be. I request your help so that my leg can be well again."

Raphorn is a 27-year-old casino worker who lives in Prey Veang province with his parents and brother. His parents are rice farmers, and his brother repairs air conditioners. Several weeks ago, Raphorn accidentally cut his hand with a knife. He took care of his wound by visiting a pharmacy for dressings and medication, because he could not afford to visit a clinic. Several days after his accident, he noticed that the wound was red and swollen. He visited a nearby hospital, and the doctors informed him that he was suffering from cellulitis, a common but potentially serious bacterial skin infection, which would require an incision and drainage of the infected wound. The area surrounding the wound is now swollen, tender to the touch, and painful, and he is unable to work. When Raphorn learned about our medical partner Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On July 25th, surgeons at CSC will perform debridement of the infected skin and skin flap surgery to heal the wound infection so that he can work with his hand again. Raphorn is able to contribute $100 to the cost of the surgery and needs help with $673 to fund his procedure and care. He shared, "After surgery, I hope that my hand looks good and the infection is gone so I can go to work again."

Phaneat is a 23-year-old student who lives in Phnom Penh City with her parents. She has 3 siblings - 2 older brothers who are married and a younger sister. Her parents have a small grocery store. In school, Phaneat is studying to be an accountant. When she has free time, she likes to read books and do research. Since Phaneat was 10 years old, she has had frequent sore throats. It is often difficult for her to swallow and breathe. She has tried many medications from their local pharmacy, but her illness always returns. For the past 3 months, Phaneat has had a chronic sore throat, difficulty swallowing and has lost her appetite. She was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Fortunately, our medical partner Children's Surgical Centre (CSC) is able to help. Phaneat is scheduled for a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy on September 4th. Surgeons will remove her tonsils and adenoids, hopefully relieving Phaneat of her symptoms and helping her live much more comfortably. She is able to contribute $50 towards the cost of surgery and needs help raising $265 to fund the procedure. She said, "I hope my sore throat goes away, it will be easy to breathe and easy to eat."
