Dah is a 63-year-old woman from Thailand. She lives with her daughter, two sons, and a daughter-in-law in a village on the Thai-Burma border. They all make and sell traditional rice wine, and grow and sell vegetables on their small farm. In her free time, Dah enjoys watching television and working on her small farm. On the morning of February 3rd, one of her sons drove her and her other son to their farmland. The road was undulating and full of potholes. Suddenly, their motorbike slid and they all fell off. Both her sons were fine, but Dah broke her left femur. As a result, Dah cannot walk or move her left leg and is in a lot of pain. With the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Dah will undergo surgery to reset her fractured bones and ensure proper healing. The procedure is scheduled for February 3rd and will help her walk free of pain. Dah and her family need help raising $1,500 to funder her procedure and care. "I worry that I will not be able to walk like before", she said. "If I cannot walk I don't know how I will be able to work on our farmland."

Roeun is a 68-year-old rice farmer from Prey Veng province. She is a widow with one son, one daughter, and six grandchildren. She lives with her daughter who supports them by working in a garment factory. She enjoys going to the pagoda to pray, growing vegetables, and gardening around her house. Five years ago, Roeun developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurry vision, sensitivity to light, and tearing. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, thus she is unable to travel on her own. When Roeun learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On February 13th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and implant an intraocular lens in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Roeun needs help to fund this $253 procedure. She said, "I hope after this surgery I can take care of my grandchildren and help with the housework more."

Teresiah is a 56-year-old woman from Kenya. She is the sixth of ten children and has one 20-year-old child of her own. She works as a domestic house helper in neighbors' houses. A couple of months ago, Teresiah began to experience symptoms such as swelling on the right side of her neck, feeling hot, headaches, rapid heartbeat, and difficulty swallowing. She was diagnosed with an enlarged right thyroid gland and needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse. Our medical partner African Mission Healthcare (AMH) is helping Teresiah receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on March 27th where surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. She and her family need help raising $625 to fund the surgery. Teresa shared, “I am requesting help so that I can be treated and be able to take care of myself and my child and not depend on my relatives.”
