Py is a 22-year-old car washer from Cambodia. In order to have better financial opportunities to earn money for his family, Py recently left his home in the village and moved closer to town with a few of his friends. He works at a car wash, but since his accident, he has had difficulty working full hours. In his free time, Py likes listening to music on his phone. In September 2022, Py was riding his motorbike when a tuk-tuk crashed into him. He sustained multiple injuries, including paralysis of his left arm due to nerve damage. He has been diagnosed with a brachial plexus injury on his right side. The brachial plexus is a nerve network that transmits signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm, and hand. Injuries to this nerve network can result in loss of function and sensation. Py cannot move his right arm and has weakness in his hand, which impacts his ability to work. Fortunately, Py was able to travel to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. This is the only center in the country where this treatment is available. On August 15th, he will undergo a brachial plexus repair surgery. After recovery, Py will be able to use his arm again. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), is requesting $709 to fund this procedure. Py contributed $100 to his care. Py shared that, after surgery, he hopes he can work to help support his family!

Barbrah, who is 32 years old, lives with her husband and two children in rural Uganda. Due to the lengthy and untimely illness of her father, Barbrah had to leave school after completing grade seven. When she was 23, she married, and opened up a small business that yields minimal returns. To supplement her income, she also engages in farming, while her husband works in the motorcycle taxi business. Barbrah has a history of difficult pregnancies, including two miscarriages. She is currently expecting another child, and her doctors have recommended that she deliver via a Caesarean section, as this is how she was able to successfully deliver her first two children. Because of the scarring from these two earlier procedures, a C-section is the best way for the doctors to ensure the safety of both Barbrah and the baby. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Barbrah undergo a C-section on August 8th, at Karoli Lwanga Hospital, Nyakibale. This procedure will cost $252, and Barbrah needs your support to raise the required funds. Barbrah says: “I surely believe that I will be able to deliver so well if given your support, because the hospital bill is what I worry about most.”

Sein is a 40-year-old father of three from Thailand. Sein and his family are day laborers. During his free time, he likes to watch movies on his mobile phone. During the evening of May 8th, 2023, Sein and his wife were walking around their neighborhood after it had rained. Suddenly, Sein slipped on the slushy and muddy road, falling and hitting his right knee on the concrete beside the road. The fall caused him to fracture his right patella. Sein feels pain around his right knee and it is still slightly swollen and inflamed. Due to the pain, he cannot move his right leg and he feels uncomfortable with his leg in a cast. With the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Sein will undergo surgery to reset his fractured bones and ensure proper healing. The procedure is scheduled for May 12th and will cost $1,500. This procedure will help him walk and work again, and he will no longer be in pain. Sein said, "I want to thank my neighbors and you [BCMF] and everyone else for helping me. I hope I can make a full recovery. When I've recovered fully, I will work hard for my family and I will fulfill my children’s wishes of going to Bangkok and working there for the betterment of their lives."
