Oeun is a 71-year-old retired rice farmer. He is a proud father of six sons, three daughters, and 14 grandchildren. Unfortunately, his wife passed away, so he lives with his youngest daughter, who is a housewife, and her husband, who is a taxi driver. Some of his favorite ways to spend his time are listening to the news and playing with his grandchildren.
Four years ago, Oeun developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him photophobia, tearing, and blurry vision. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on his own.
On September 28th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery, and place an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $253 procedure.
Oeun says, “I hope after surgery my eye can see well again. I want to join for the special ceremonies at the pagoda again.”
