Sopheak lives at home with his parents, sister, and two brothers. Since he was young, he has suffered from mental health challenges that affect his interactions and communications, so he mostly stays home with his parents. He enjoys helping his mother clean the house or working with family to clean weeds in public spaces. Sopheak climbed a mango tree last month to gather mangoes to sell to neighbors. Sadly, he lost his grip and fell about seven metres to the ground, fracturing his left hip. He has difficulty walking, sitting, or sleeping and is in constant pain. When Sopheak's mother learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, from a neighbor, they traveled for one and a half hours, hoping to find affordable pain relief for Sopheak. On September 12th, surgeons at CSC will perform surgery on his left hip. This will help him to regain mobility. Sopheak and his family need help raising $544 to fund his procedure and care. Sopheak's mother said: "we are hopeful the doctors can help Sopheak to walk again and relieve his pain."

Samorn is a 79-year-old nun living in a rural village in Kandal province, Cambodia. Sadly, her husband passed away 20 years ago and Samorn has lived and worked in a pagoda ever since. She enjoys cooking and meditation. One year ago, Samorn developed a cataract in her left eye, which causes her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. Because she has difficulty seeing clearly, she is no longer confident about going places on her own. When Samorn learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours to seek treatment. On May 8th, doctors at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform small incision cataract surgery and implant an intraocular lens in her left eye. After she has recovered, Samorn will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs your help to fund this $253 procedure. Samorn shared: "I hope I can see more clearly and do more at the pagoda and visit the temples further away some time."

Moreen is a businesswoman and mom of three from Uganda. One of her children is a student, while the other two are too young to attend school yet. Moreen achieved a records management certificate but has had difficulty securing a job in her field of expertise. Instead, she has started a business, operating a modest retail shop alongside her husband. Moreen visited our medical partner’s care center because she has been experiencing pins-and-needles sensations, backaches, and a sharp pain that starts from her left side and radiates to her back. She has been having this pain for two years but has been unable to seek medical care due to limited finances. After seeing the doctor, Moreen was diagnosed with a left ovarian mass. She needs to undergo cystectomy treatment to finally heal. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is requesting $220 to fund this surgery. Moreen said, “It will be a blessing when operated on under your support. I believe I will have a successful surgery and be in good health afterward."
