Hillary is a cool, caring 39-year-old man from Kenya. He is a middle child and lives at home with his parents and younger brother. Hillary experiences epilepsy and cannot talk or work due to his condition. His elderly parents are retired, and his brother practices small-scale farming and works labor jobs in the neighborhood to help earn a living for his family. Hillary recently fell from his bed and injured his arm and hand. He visited a nearby government facility and was diagnosed with a displaced fracture in his left humerus and received a splint. As Hillary is still experiencing pain, swelling, and discomfort in his arm, his family brought him to our medical partner's care center. Upon review, the doctor advised that Hillary needs surgery since the fracture is too displaced to heal with a splint. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On May 16th, Hillary will undergo a fracture repair procedure called an open reduction and internal fixation. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is requesting $1,145 to fund this procedure. Hillary's brother says, "My brother has had a lot of challenges in his life, and when I see him crying with pain, I feel hurt. I am so hopeful that he will get treatment and that he will live comfortably once again. Kindly help him."

Emmanuel is a three-month-old baby boy from Tanzania. He has one older sibling. His parents are Olkokola Center volunteers, who dedicate their time to helping those in need. However, they face challenges in finding jobs that would offer them a stable income to provide for their family. Emmanuel has clubfoot of both feet. This is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape, making it difficult for the individual to wear shoes and to walk. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), can help. Emmanuel's family brought him to AMH's care center, Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre. On August 4th, AMH's surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery on Emmanuel's feet. AMH is requesting $935 to fund Emmanuel's clubfoot repair. This procedure is the first step of Emmanuel's treatment, and will ultimately help him run, walk, and play like other children. Emmanuel’s mother says: “I hope my son's treatment will go smoothly, and his legs won't have a permanent condition.”

Speech is a 48-year-old mother. She and her husband are small-scale farmers. They own a three-room mud house for shelter. Their firstborn is 22 years old and studied up to secondary school class four, while their second is 20 years old and in secondary school class three. They jointly pay her school fees through their farming. Speech developed a small swelling on the right side of her jaw over 25 years ago. It was painless, so she did not seek medical attention. She only felt it when she was washing her face. However, 3 years ago, the swelling increased in size and became visible as abnormal swelling. She lived with it comfortably until last January, when she started feeling pain radiating from the swollen region. She can no longer sleep on the side of the swollen part because it is too painful. She reports episodes of mild headaches, which she thinks could be caused by the swelling. Speech traveled to our medical partner African Mission Healthcare (AMH) to receive treatment. On August 11th, surgeons will remove the mass from Speech's jaw. Speech and AMH need help raising $145 to fund this procedure. Speech says, “I am worried because anything could come out of the swelling in future. I want to continue with farming after my surgery.”
