Sok is a 52-year-old teacher from Cambodia. Her husband works as a rice farmer in Prey Veng province, and their son works nearby in construction. Sok teaches Cambodian history and culture to elementary school students. In her free time, she likes cooking for her family and chatting with friends in her village.
In April 2022, Sok was in a motorbike accident that caused a fracture in her left patella (kneecap). She went to a nearby hospital, where doctors fixated hardware to heal her fracture. Now, the bone is united, and the hardware is uncomfortable and needs removal. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. On May 3rd, Sok will undergo a hardware removal procedure to help her walk easily again. CSC is requesting $304 to fund her surgery. Sok contributed $75 to her care.
When asked about her hopes for the future, Sok said: “After surgery, I hope I can feel like before the accident.”
