James is a 39-year-old father of two young children. His wife stays at home with the children, while James works whenever he can get jobs on construction sites - work that is both inconsistent and poorly paid. On the 10th of August, James was hit by a speeding vehicle when he was on his way to work. He was left seriously injured, and his colleagues rushed him to the hospital, for emergency care. He has been in the hospital for four days, awaiting surgery to repair a fractured tibia. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, can help. On August 16th, James will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation, at AIC Kijabe Hospital. The procedure will enable him to walk easily again, and to resume working, so that he can continue to support his family. African Mission Healthcare is requesting $979 to fund this procedure and care. James says: “I feel stranded and worried. The accident left me immobile and unable to work. My family entirely depends on me, and I cannot work in this condition. I need surgery to walk and work.”

Rose is a 46-year-old farmer. She is a widow with four children who are all married and self-employed. She practices small-scale farming, however, her ability to work has been limited in the past year. For one year, Rose has been experiencing pain, abnormal bleeding, headaches, and backaches. Rose was diagnosed with multiple uterine myomas, a type of noncancerous growth in her uterus. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a type of surgery that will alleviate her symptoms by removing her uterus. Her family is unable to raise funds for her treatment and is appealing for assistance. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $219 to fund Rose's surgery. On June 1st, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner's care center. Once recovered, Rose will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Rose says, “I will thank God when am operated and I live well with good health and be able to resume farming.”

Bilton is a three-year-old boy and resides in the Kilimanjaro region with his loving mother. They have been facing financial challenges as his mother, a hardworking farmer, rents land and cultivates crops to support their family. Bilton is her only child, and her determination to secure a better life for him knows no bounds. Bilton has clubfoot of both feet. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. He developed bowed legs at age one as he learned to take his first steps. Over time, this condition has worsened, making walking painful and difficult. His mother sought medical assistance. Bilton was taken to another hospital for assessment and received special shoes designed to help straighten his legs. Unfortunately, the shoes intended to aid him, caused wounds and discomfort, rendering it impossible for him to wear them consistently. This setback left Bilton without access to the essential medical care he needed. Fortunately, Bilton's family traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, The Plaster House NGO. There, the team will begin clubfoot treatment on September 14th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $935 to fund Bilton's clubfoot treatment. After this care, he will be able to grow up active and healthy. Bilton’s mother says, “I wish for my son grow up and live a life free from disability. I want to see him go to school and become independent.”
