Patience is a 25-year-old mother who is pregnant with her second child. She and her husband work as a small-scale farmers to provide for their family. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Patience tragically experienced a stillbirth in 2022, so she has been taking extra care with this pregnancy. She has diligently attended all of her antenatal care appointments and has received comprehensive care throughout her pregnancy. Due to the previous loss and her desire for a successful pregnancy, her doctors recommend that she deliver via a Caesarean section (C-section) to ensure the safety of both Patience and her baby. Our medical partner African Mission Healthcare (AMH) is helping Patience undergo a C-Section on July 11th. This procedure will cost $252, and Patience needs your support to fund the procedure. Patience says, “I am so burdened to pay this bill since I don’t have money, but I know with your support I will be able to deliver a live and healthier baby and also be counted as a mother.”

Johnson is a 62-year-old father of five from Uganda. He is a retired primary teacher who now works in small-scale farming, often working alongside his wife. They rely on this farming to sustain their livelihood. For over two years, Johnson has had a right inguinal hernia. He has had symptoms such as swelling and pain in his right inguinal region. Initially, he tolerated the discomfort, but the pain worsened, leading him to seek medical help. Johnson is scheduled to undergo a hernia repair surgery on July 11th. Our medical partner African Mission Healthcare (AMH) is requesting $230 to fund Johnson's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Johnson says, “I will be glad to have my life brought back to normal so that I can resume my activities for a living.”

Chanda is a cheerful 8-year-old student from Cambodia who lives with her parents and grandmother in Kampong Speu province. Her father works in construction, and her mother and grandmother are rice farmers. She is in grade two and enjoys learning Khmer and English. When she is older, she would like to go to medical school to be a doctor. At home, she likes fried meat with vegetables and chicken soup. Her grandmother is teaching her how to cook, and she enjoys imitating her grandmother in the kitchen. Since the age of two, Chanda has had frequent bouts of pharyngitis - a common viral or bacterial sore throat. She has had trouble sleeping and swallowing for the past two years, and she frequently has a runny nose, fever, and sneezing, and does not feel well enough to attend school. She doesn't want to eat food because it causes her pain, and she does not gain enough weight. Medications from the pharmacy have not helped her symptoms. Chanda was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Our medical partner Children's Surgical Centre (CSC) is requesting $265 to fund a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for Chanda, which is scheduled to take place on August 1st. Surgeons will remove her tonsils and adenoids, hopefully relieving Chanda of her symptoms and helping her live much more comfortably. Chanda's family is able to contribute $100 towards the surgery and CSC is requesting $265 to fully fund the procedure. Her mother said, "We hope that after surgery, Chanda will have good health and stop the infection. It will be easier for her to breathe and she will not miss school any longer."
