Jemimah is the third born in a family of 4, and two of her elder siblings are in school. Her father is a teacher, and her mother works on farms to make ends meet. They are not able to raise sufficient money for daily upkeep and medical bills. Despite hardship, their family has big dreams. Jemimah's father wishes that she will become a lawyer when she grows up. Since birth, Jemimah has had an umbilical hernia. She did not have any pain earlier, but lately, the umbilicus has become painful. She was reviewed at Nyakibale Hospital and doctors recommend surgery. Her father is worried that they are not able to raise the hospital fees and requests your support. Fortunately, on March 7th, she will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $230 to fund Jemimah's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow her to live more comfortably and confidently. Jemimah's father says “My child's condition is worrying but I hope that once operated on, she will be better and grow up without any health issues."

Ciara is a 10-month-old infant from Haiti. Her family enjoys playing with her and watching her smile. Ciara has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain, and increases intracranial pressure. As a result of her condition, Ciara has been experiencing an increasing head circumference. Without treatment, Ciara will have severe physical and developmental delays. Our medical partner, Project Medishare, is requesting $897 to cover the cost of surgery for Ciara that will treat her hydrocephalus at Hospital Bernard Mevs. This is the only site in the country where this care is currently available and the procedure is scheduled to take place on February 2nd. This critical treatment will drain the excess fluid from Ciara's brain to reduce intracranial pressure and greatly improve her quality of life. With proper treatment, Ciara will hopefully develop into a strong, healthy young girl. The family is looking forward to having their baby girl grow up healthy and happy.

Fatma is a bright 14-year-old from Kenya. She loves school and is in class seven, where her favorite subject is English because she likes reading. Fatma has three older siblings and three younger siblings. Her parents operate a small shop in their town to provide for their family's needs. Fatma experienced delayed mobility and was diagnosed with clubfoot on her right foot in 2017. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape, which can cause difficulty walking and wearing shoes. She underwent surgery at another hospital in the past, but she continues to experience mobility concerns. Fatma's parents brought her to our medical partner's care center. On May 15th, she will undergo clubfoot repair surgery that will allow her to walk without difficulty and continue her studies uninterrupted. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,286 to fund this procedure. Fatma shared: "I will be happy to see my foot corrected and appreciate your assistance."
