Ann is a 16-year-old student from Kenya. Ann was orphaned when her father took his and her mother's life. Fortunately, Ann, who aspires to become an architect, now lives with relatives who adopted her. In October 2022, Ann was also assaulted by her father, who used a machete, who injured Ann's hand, and cut one of her fingers in half. She was rushed to the hospital for treatment, where she underwent surgery. While the right middle finger has healed, it developed a contracture during the healing process. The contracture is causing Ann to experience difficulties when she uses her hand. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Ann receive treatment. On May 3rd, surgeons at AIC Kijabe Hospital will perform contracture release surgery, which should improve Ann's grip and her ability to hold things, aiding in her aspirations to become an architect. Now she needs your help to fund this $1,500 procedure. Ann says, “Architects draw building designs; this is what I want to do. I have been through a lot, but I am determined.”

Jemimah is the third born in a family of 4, and two of her elder siblings are in school. Her father is a teacher, and her mother works on farms to make ends meet. They are not able to raise sufficient money for daily upkeep and medical bills. Despite hardship, their family has big dreams. Jemimah's father wishes that she will become a lawyer when she grows up. Since birth, Jemimah has had an umbilical hernia. She did not have any pain earlier, but lately, the umbilicus has become painful. She was reviewed at Nyakibale Hospital and doctors recommend surgery. Her father is worried that they are not able to raise the hospital fees and requests your support. Fortunately, on March 7th, she will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $230 to fund Jemimah's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow her to live more comfortably and confidently. Jemimah's father says “My child's condition is worrying but I hope that once operated on, she will be better and grow up without any health issues."

An is a loving grandmother from Prey Veng province in Cambodia. She is 67 years old and continues to work on the family rice farm as it is a source of income and a way to stay active. She has four daughters, one son, and 15 grandchildren. Sadly, her husband passed away one year ago from untreated hypertension. She now lives with her youngest daughter, who is a garment worker. About a year ago, An developed a cataract in her right eye. As a result, she experiences photophobia, tearing, and blurry vision. She feels that she has lost a degree of her independence due to her limited vision and her symptoms make her feel uncomfortable. When An learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for four and a half hours to seek treatment. On May 4th, doctors at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform small incision cataract surgery and implant an intraocular lens in her right eye. After she has recovered, An will be able to see clearly and regain her independence. Now, she needs your help to fund this $253 procedure. An said: "I hope after my surgery I will see better. I hope to go outside more often, feel better, and plant rice well."
