Lucy, a 3-year-old girl, is shy with a heart full of joy. As the third and youngest child in her family, Lucy brings delight to her loved ones. Her mother shared that Lucy enjoys singing, spending time with her friends, engaging in playful activities, and assisting with household chores. Lucy's father is a farmer, while her mother oversees the household. During our medical partner's encounter with Lucy at the Nyahururu clinic, she was accompanied by her mother, who expressed concerns about a leg deformity. Her mother mentioned that Lucy has recently been limping and frequently complains of pain when walking and playing with her friends. Lucy was diagnosed with clubfoot on the right foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape, which causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Fortunately, Lucy's family visited our medical partner's care center, AIC Cure International Hospital. There, surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery on July 12th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, requests $1,286 to fund Lucy's clubfoot repair. After treatment, she can walk without pain, continue her education and play with friends. "It would bring me joy to have Lucy walking and playing like other children," Lucy's mother told us.

Moses is a three-year-old boy from Tanzania. He is very active and enjoys playing. His parents are peasants, relying on agriculture for food production, and they also work in a quarry, selling stones for construction activities to generate extra income. Moses was born with his legs twisted inward and downward. Due to financial limitations, his parents could not seek treatment for his condition when he was young. He learned to walk as he grew, but he now complains of pain. Determined to help their child, the parents embarked on an eight-hour journey to seek medical care. Moses was diagnosed with clubfoot of both feet. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Fortunately, our medical partner African Mission Healthcare (AMH) can help. Moses is scheduled to undergo clubfoot repair surgery on August 4th. AMH is requesting $935 to fund Moses's clubfoot repair. After treatment, he will be able to walk easily and enjoy a higher quality of life. Moses’s mother shared, “I am grateful for the hope you have given us. I can't wait for my son to start his treatment, and I hope everything will go well.”

Peninnah is a young girl from Kenya. She is the fourth born in a family of five children. The family is not financially well off. Her father, the breadwinner, makes and sells charcoal. To help provide for the family, her mother does jobs like fetching firewood and laundry for her neighbors. They cannot raise the required amount to pay for the hospital bill. Peninnah has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain and increases intracranial pressure. As a result of her illness, Peninnah has been experiencing fevers and severe headaches since she was three months old. Her parents never managed to get specialized treatment for her until last week when they gathered some funds and took her to one of the hospitals in their home county. She was then referred to our medical partner's care center Bethany Kids where a CT scan was done, and her diagnosis was made. Now she has been scheduled for surgery, and her family is requesting financial support to make her care possible. Without treatment, Peninnah will experience severe physical and developmental delays. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $720 to cover the surgery cost. The procedure will drain the excess fluid from Peninnah's brain. This will reduce intracranial pressure and significantly improve her quality of life. Peninnah will develop into a strong, healthy young girl with proper treatment. Peninnah's mother says, "We did not have money for her treatment, but we decided to try again before giving up. I'm grateful that we now know that she can be treated."
