Stephen, a 22-month-old baby from Haiti, holds a special place in his parents' hearts as their beloved firstborn. He finds immense joy in gracing the world with his delightful smiles. Recently, Stephen was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain and increases intracranial pressure. As a result of his illness, Stephen has been experiencing an increasing head circumference. Without treatment, Stephen will experience severe physical and developmental delays. Our medical partner, Project Medishare, is requesting $957 to cover the surgery cost for Stephen at Hospital Bernard Mevs, which will treat his hydrocephalus. This hospital is the only site in the country where this care is currently available, and the procedure is scheduled for June 20th. This necessary treatment will place a shunt to drain the excess fluid from Stephen's brain to reduce intracranial pressure and improve his quality of life. With proper treatment, Stephen will hopefully develop into a strong, healthy young boy. His parents are excited for their child to be healthy.

Navath is a clever two-year-old boy who lives in Phnom Penh with his mom and dad. His mom stays home to care for him, while his father works as a welder. Navath loves toy cars and watching cartoons on his mom's phone. Last November, Navath accidentally put his hands into a pot of boiling rice in his home. His mother rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was treated for the burns. Since that time, scar contractures have developed on both hands. Because of the contractures, Navath has limited hand function and is unable to do things like grasp toys or feed himself. When Navath's family learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, they traveled there hoping he may be able to have treatment. On June 1st, surgeons at our medical partner's care center will perform a burn contracture release surgery to improve his hand function so he can do everyday activities as he grows. Now, his family needs help to fund this $495 procedure. His mother hopes that Navath can regain the use of his hands.

Raphorn is a 27-year-old casino worker who lives in Prey Veang province with his parents and brother. His parents are rice farmers, and his brother repairs air conditioners. Several weeks ago, Raphorn accidentally cut his hand with a knife. He took care of his wound by visiting a pharmacy for dressings and medication, because he could not afford to visit a clinic. Several days after his accident, he noticed that the wound was red and swollen. He visited a nearby hospital, and the doctors informed him that he was suffering from cellulitis, a common but potentially serious bacterial skin infection, which would require an incision and drainage of the infected wound. The area surrounding the wound is now swollen, tender to the touch, and painful, and he is unable to work. When Raphorn learned about our medical partner Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On July 25th, surgeons at CSC will perform debridement of the infected skin and skin flap surgery to heal the wound infection so that he can work with his hand again. Raphorn is able to contribute $100 to the cost of the surgery and needs help with $673 to fund his procedure and care. He shared, "After surgery, I hope that my hand looks good and the infection is gone so I can go to work again."
