Ol is a retired rice farmer from Kampong Cham province who needs eye surgery to help him see clearly again. He and his wife have one daughter, three sons, and ten grandchildren. They used to be rice farmers, but now they are both retired and their living is supported by their children, who farm the same ancestral land. At home, Ol likes to listen to the radio when the monks are chanting and read books about the Buddha. One year ago, Ol developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him blurry vision. He used to help his wife with housework and cooking, but can no longer see well enough; he is frustrated that his vision has declined so quickly and shared that he feels useless to his family. When Ol learned about our medical partner Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On July 19th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery, and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Ol is able to contribute a small amount and he needs help with the remaining $253 to fully fund the procedure. Ol said, "I hope after surgery I will see better. I want to help the monks at the pagoda to teach and learn Buddhism and join their ceremonies easily."

Joyce is a sweet 5-year-old girl from Kenya. Joyce's father lost his first wife, leaving him with seven children from their marriage to care for. He later remarried Joyce's mother, and together they have five children, so Joyce's full family consists of her mother, father, and eleven siblings. The two oldest children have moved out and started their own families. Joyce's parents take on various work, like working on their neighbors' farms, to provide for their family. However, they shared that their earnings are barely enough to provide food for the family, and they also receive some support from well-wishers. Joyce has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain and increases intracranial pressure. As a result of her condition, Joyce has been experiencing severe headaches accompanied by loss of speech and inability to walk over the last three weeks. Without treatment, Joyce will experience severe physical and developmental delays. On October 27th, Joyce will undergo surgery to drain the excess fluid from her brain, thus reducing the intracranial pressure and significantly improving her quality of life. With proper treatment, Joyce will develop into a strong, healthy young girl. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is requesting $720 to cover the surgery cost. Joyce's mother said, "I am worried for my daughter's health. I want her to be treated and go back to her good health again."

Lekere is a joyful 7-year-old from Kenya who is in the second grade. She is the firstborn in a family of five children. Lekere's favorite activities are playing with other kids and writing. Her father is a herder, and her mother is a homemaker. Lekere was born with clubfoot of her left foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape, which causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Currently, Lekere tiptoes as she walks and often falls while walking, making it difficult for her to engage with her peers fully. Lekere has been undergoing serial casting for five weeks as part of her healing process. The purpose of serial casting is to soften the tissue to achieve better results after surgery. Lekere is scheduled for clubfoot repair surgery on November 28th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is requesting $1,286 to fund Lekere's clubfoot repair surgery. After treatment, she will be able to walk well, play with her peers at home and in school, and continue growing into a strong, healthy young girl. Lekere's mother said, "My joy is seeing my girl walking normally like other children."
