Millicent is a 49-year-old businesswoman from Kenya. She came to the hospital accompanied by her daughter. Millicent resides in Nyathuna in Kiambu County. She is married and a mother of 3 children. Apart from her kids, Millicent takes care of 4 other children who were left orphaned by her sister when she died. Millicent manages a small business where she sells green groceries near her home. Her husband has been sick, which makes the family very financially vulnerable. For seven years, Millicent has been experiencing heavy bleeding and other symptoms. She has been to many health facilities and has taken medicines many times with no solution. Eventually, she went to visit our medical partner's care center Nazareth Hospital for a gynecology review. Now she has been diagnosed with multiple fibroids. If not treated, Millicent will continue to suffer as the fibroids grow. She may have complications like anemia, and they may become cancerous. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, requests $755 to fund Millicent's surgery. On November 22nd, she is scheduled to undergo treatment and once recovered, Millicent can resume her daily activities free of pain. "For the last seven years, life has been tough for me, with my problem and the family looking up to me for their needs. I am pleading for help so that I can regain my normal life and be able to take care of my family," said Millicent.

Editor is a farmer from Uganda. She comes from a very humble family, and she is a total orphan - having lost both of her parents. Editor shared that she never saw her parents, and just heard stories about what they looked like because they died while she was still a toddler. After the death of her parents, her grandmother took over the responsibility. She had no money to facilitate her education, and she dropped out of school before completing seventh grade. In 2014, Editor decided to get married to her husband, who is a small-scale farmer. They lived in a rented house. At the beginning of this year, Editor separated from her husband and lost contact with him. She could not raise rental fees for their home, and she ended up being kicked out of the house. Fortunately, a good neighbour had a free store, and she gave it to her. Currently, Editor and her two children live in that small store, and they survive by working on the neighbor’s farm or sometimes her friends donate things. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her children. She is currently expecting a new baby. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section because of her high risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Editor undergo a C-Section on November 23rd. This procedure will cost $207, and Editor needs your support. Editor says, "my desire is to safely deliver my child in good health. I am my family's only breadwinner and I don't have money to pay for surgery."

Amon is a 64-year-old man from Kenya. Amon and his wife are both farmers, but Amon has had difficulty working due to his arthritis. They have three children who were unable to attend school due to lack of funding. Amon and his wife also take care of one of their grandchildren. About three weeks ago, Amon started to experience abdominal pain and nausea. Amon sought out treatment at a nearby health center and was treated for ulcers. However, he was advised to seek treatment in a major hospital as he continued to experience pain and also developed jaundice. After arriving at the hospital, a doctor ordered an MRI for Amon. The results showed that Amon had gallstones that cause cholecystitis, a condition where bile becomes trapped and builds up in the gallbladder. The surgeon advised cholecystectomy, but Amon's health insurance card was not functional and he was unable to afford treatment. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), can help. On May 29th, Amon will undergo a laparotomy at AMH's care center. Hopefully, after treatment, Amon will no longer experience pain, nausea, and jaundice. AMH is requesting $788 to cover the cost of Amon's procedure.
