Seng Leng lives in Mondulkiri province and is the youngest of five children. He enjoys playing volleyball and spending time with his brothers. Seng Leng has Neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that causes skin abnormalities and tumors to grow on nerve tissue. Since he was a young child, Seng Leng has had a mass on his right cheek. In the past couple of years, it has grown in size. He is worried it will continue to grow and cause further discomfort when eating and talking. In November, a small team of maxillofacial surgeons will remove the mass from Seng Leng's cheek. Other surgical residents and medical students will accompany the surgeons to facilitate training of the next generation of surgeons. Removing the tumor will make Seng Leng feel more comfortable and less scared of further growth. Seng Leng shared, "I hope that the doctors can remove the tumor so I can go back home and go back to work without worrying all the time."

Sok Din is a 13 year-old seventh grader who lives in Takeo province with his parents and two brothers. Both of his parents are rice farmers. Sok Din is one of the top students in his class, and he is hoping to study biology at university. When he was 10 months old, Sok Din burned his hand and lower leg in an accidental gasoline fire at home. Using their savings and borrowed money, the family travelled to Vietnam, so that Sok Din could be treated. Thankfully, the treatment was successful, and Sok Din returned home a few weeks later. Since then, however, scar contractures have developed, tightening the skin on his left hand, limiting his hand's functionality, and making Sok Din feel embarrassed at school. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is seeking $495 to fund burn contracture release surgery for Sok Din, which is scheduled for May 18th, at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre. After his surgery, Sok Din and his family hope that he will be able to use his hand more fully, and that he will no longer feel embarrassed at school.

Kunthea is a 58-year-old rice farmer, living in Kompong Cham province in Cambodia. She is single, and has two brothers and two sisters. Because her parents have passed away, she lives with her youngest sister, who is also a rice farmer. Two years ago, Kunthea developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her to experience headaches, tearing, and blurry vision. As a result of the cataract, Kunthea's ability to work has been compromised, as it is difficult for her to see in bright or dim light. She stays inside most of the time, and is lonely and isolated. When Kunthea learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours to seek treatment. On July 13th, doctors at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform small incision cataract surgery, and implant an intraocular lens in her left eye. After she has recovered, Kunthea will be able to resume working and going out to socialize. Now she needs your help to fund this $253 procedure. Kunthea said: "I hope that after surgery my eyesight will improve so I can easily go out, recognize things, go back to growing rice, and help my sister take care of her children."
